Hey everyone, well I read tons of tutorials and FAQs (and of course stickies on this and other forums).. and I think I know what I need, but can someone please verify?

My plans are to make/burn/play backups for my 360. My 360 is currently in repair (for the disk scratch problem), so I can't garuntee what my drive is, but I'm pretty sure its Hitachi (but can you please tell me what I would need to change to make it work with Samsung?)

So to make the 360 backups I was going to buy the Samsung SH-D162C Drive (from ebay) with the Xbox Back-up Creator software

to burn my backups I was going to get the Pioneer 112d DL DVD Drive (from newegg... I heard most people use the 111d drive, but I'd imagine it work just the same) and use The Verbatim DL DVD+R

to play my backups I was going to get the Blaster360 to be able to flash my drive easily, and buy this SATA to USB (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?item=N82E16812232002)adapter from newegg (this will work fine right? don't want to dish out all that money if I don't need to for the X360USB)

Now can anyone please verify my setup to make sure it would work? Also what exactly do I need? Like the main problem... the firmware? Are there different types, which one should I get? Plus I read there are different versions of each company of drive.... so what do I need to do different for each drive? Also does anyone ahve a guide to be able to see which ersion I have?

Also what else would I need to change if I have a Samsung?

Please help if you can! I'm sure tehre is stuff I'm missing, please let me know! Thanks a lot!

Ditch the Blaster as its a load of shite and a waste of money. Also, ditch the Hitachi drive if you have one, as Samsungs are better drives and are supported more for Firmware updates. You need your drive key from the Hitachi before you add a Samsung. See link below

Do a search on ebay for Samsung MS25. ABout £30 + shipping costs from Hong Kong. That is what i did.

Regards to backing up and burning, you have the right setup for that.

Head over to www.360mods.net and get "Textbooks" tutorial for flashing your drive and other advice.

what do you mean about the samsung and hitachi difference? Also I dont' want to keep opening and closing my 360, plus I wanna see if I can flash in USB rather then SATA

I don't think you can use a SATA-to-USB converter to flash your drive. You'll need a SATA card or a motherboard with SATA support.
