In a recent Bloomberg survey, it was revealed that 44% of Wii gamers were aged under 18, compared to 27% of Xbox 360 gamers being in that age group at the same time in its lifecycle, according to the NPD Group. When tallied up, that means that about 56% of Wii owners are over the age of 18. In addition, the IDC analyst group, predicts that worldwide, the Wii to sell 16.1 million units in 2007, the PlayStation 3 is expected to sell 9.87 million, and the Xbox 360 9.69 million. This would even exceed Nintendo's estimated figures, if you bare in mind that Nintendo’s projected 14 million Wii units manufactured is for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2008, not December 31st of this year. The IDC’s prediction of 16.1 million is retroactive to January 1, 2007.

I think this reasonable minus a couple issues. I really don't think the PS3 is going to be anywhere near that total this year. I think '08 will be better for units just due to good software appearing a liitle late in '07. I think summer '08 will be great for PS3, mostly to due with Japanese sales. I believe the Xbox 360 will still be a power force next year in the states And as far as Wii, those large numbers would be tangable but I don't think they will be able to produce enough systems, so we'll see what really happens. Please don't turn this into another "Your console sucks" banter. Let's just be happy with our console of choice and hope the game library gets big with quality titles. Can't wait for BioShock!

Why expecting the 360 to sell around 10 millions when it already have sold that? Pretty intresting speculation ::confused:

I thought that but it seems alot of those with banned consoles are willing to buy another for live so can see good 360 sales because of that, but not quite the total predicted here unless they expand the audience they are aiming at. The ps3 figure is probably fair but also see it continueing rather than falling away for years so will catch up and pass the 360 at some point and the wii just don't see where it is going as can't understand what people are really buying it for at the moment so hard to predict the sales in the future.

Ohhh my god, get out a picture and frame this as im about to actually stick up for the 360 here.

The part about how much the 360 will sell this year is crazy as thats what they have sold so far, so are they saying that the 360 will sell no more consoles this year???

Right now the 360 is just under 10 million so i believe that they will probably sell between 11 and 12 million consoles this year.

The PS3, probably around 8 million.

The wii, probably around 16 million if current sales keep up!!!

Anyway thats my 2 cents.

It means the 360 will sell ~10 mil in '07, so in total the 360 will be at ~18-20 mil, and the ps3 at ~11-12 mil, since the 360 has a full year head start.

By now they know everybody that Wii is a more console for children that look for the fun, while the greatest boys adore the graphics and the realism of the games.

The forecasts of sales of the Ps3 seem me exaggerated, above all if it will keep on maintaining this price, and then the 360, practically would not sell anymore.

Those sales are for 2007 ONLY. So the period starting Jan 1, 2007 and ending Dec 31 of 2007. The sales estimates are not lifetime. So if you add those estimates to the sales from the end of 2006 the PS3 will end the year around 10 million, 360 around 18 million, and Wii close to 20 million.

To be honest I doubt if any of them will be able to hit those figures.

Kinda confusing isnt it?

Well if it is for just 2007 then the 360 hasnt got a hope in hell of selling that many consoles in 2007.

We are already half way through 2007 and they have not even sold 2 million yet???

So how are they gonna sell another 8 million?

thats funny i don't know a single person under 20 that owns a wii, but i know of a lot of people over 20 that own them. in fact alot of the people that have been gaming for 10-15 years really love the wii because it is something different and the devs are focusing on different kinds of gameplay rather than recycling the same games over and over again with new graphics. while i don't like party games i really enjoy the wii and games like mario strikers rock even though i never liked the last one or sega soccer slam which seems to be where nintendo got the engine for the first one for gamecube. at least it seems to be built off of it though i couldn't tell for sure but they are very similiar type games though the wii one blows all games that have attempted this kind of soccer game away.
