Witam ;)

For over one year (I bought my PSP with it !!) I've got Harley's Custom Firmware installed. As new Firmwares are day by day, me and my PSP is getting incompatible with many newset games :(
Few weeks age I've tried to make situation better and installed Devhook v0.52.0100 with Firmware 3.11 (version without Flashing - from this forum [THANK YOU :D ]...as I'm scare as hell to make any flashing:eek: ).
It was acceptable solution for couple days...as now newest games requaired Firmware 3.30 (or even 3.40 !!) and DevHook stuck on 3.11 :( I start to think about 3.40 OE-A.

As I wrote before - I never flashed my PSP before and I'm scare to BRICK it (it's my precious and I can't live without it :( ), so before I make anything in this subject, I would like to ask you for HELP :)

In Harley's CF I can (by HOLD switch on PSP start) enter to Recovery Mode and there I have option to UNISTALL Custom Firmware.
My question is - should this be enought to back to clean 1.5 and start to install 3.40 OE-A (by EASY INSTALLER as I'm green in flashing :o ). Can my PSP BRICK while I'll UNISTALL CF ?
Is there any option to have anyRecovery Mode (just in case)while installing 3.40 OE-A (as I understand, I'll lose it when I'll uninstall Harley's ??) ??

Many THANKS for any (good :rolleyes: ) solutions !!

I used to be on that fw, just enter recovery and go back to 1.50.
Then just install 340oe [follow dax's instructions that come with it, its simple enuff] cos i personally dont think theres any need for you to use a easy installer. if you follow the readme with OE exactly there wont be any problems.

one - you don't need to uninstall harleyg's custom firmware, just run the oeupdater like you would anyother program
two - you don't need to use an easy installer to install custom firmware. its simple enough to run the 3.40 oe update yourself

yamster32 brethren THANKS !!
OK - I'll give it a try...if I BRICK you will hear about this in the news - first man who hang him self after BRICKING his PSP ;)

...and now seriously - last (I hope :rolleyes: ) question...to give myself little bit more assertiveness:

I think that my Recovery Menu is strange - I hope it will work if I need it!!:
It look exactly like this:

Configuration and Recovery 0.2 by harleyg

Main menu:

[ ] USB [ON/OFF]
[ ] Recovery menu ->
[ ] Boot manager ->
[ ] Change clockspeed ->
[ ] Exit

When I open "Recovery menu", I have:

Main menu -> Recovery menu

[ ] Back <-
[ ] Flash ms0:/recovery.elf to flash0
[ ] Flash ms0:/vshmain.prx to flash0
[ ] Start update EBOOT
[ ] Remove custom firmware

If I decide to brethren sugestion and don't Remove CF before installing 3.40 OE-A, does my Recovery menu work if something goes wrong ??
I'm asking becouse I saw some posts about Recovery Menu and there was something that only EBOOT.PBP (from 1.5) need to be in PSP\GAME\RECOVERY\ (I don't have such folder on my MS!!) and Recovery menu will work if something goes wrong....but I wouldn't even know which option from above listed should I choose to unbrick half-bricked PSP :(

Please advise!!

P.S. I know - I'm NooB :o

Yeah it's hard being a noob. I entered the scene just over a year ago. Then there was only 2 downgraders and a few custom firmwares for 1.5. UMD Emulator was the best way to load ISO's and devhook had only just allowed for full 2.5 emulation. Those days had little (although very good) and allowed for very little confusion. Now ther is loads of custom firmware's a tone of different devhook's and loads of downgraders. It can be very confusing.

Hope your custom firmware upgrade goes well.:cool:

just dont use an easy installer they tend to have a higher risk when it comes to bricking

I would unistall the custom firmware first, then just install 3.40 OE-A.

There is no harm, if you follow the instructions and have common sense

unfortunately it doesn't work like that globuz. as soon as you start installing cf it will format flash0 (thats why it doesn't matter whats on flash0 when you start the install) then copy all the 3.40oe-a files to it. Don't worry though when installation is done you'll have another recovery mode:rolleyes:

thousand of peoplehave instaledl dax cf, i've not heard of ANY problems

Just generate your own DATA.DXAR and use it to install the CF from your old one. There is no need to go back to 1.50 or anything like that. the flasher will just format the flash for you and copy the required files. And trust me, 3.40 OE-A has much more features than your old one. It even allows you to access your flash from your computer through its recovery menu.

btw: Don't feel bad that your a noob. noone was born knowing how to flash OE.

dun worry. just install it. u'll have a bigger safety net in terms of customizing xmb. with the ability to toggle flash0 and flash1, u get full freedom to mod yr xmb.

oh btw, it's harleyg not harley. harley makes bike, harleyg cracks psp :p
n dun use bright green. my eyes pain looking at it.

Thank you all once again!!

I finally did it and...I'm another happy user of 3-40 OE-A.
Installation is realy NooB friendly ;)
I've just install it on my CF (without uninstalling it first) and everything flash perfect :D
