Im about to buy a xbox 360 and have seen one for £210 that has already had the extreme mod. is this a good deal?

You cannot expect to buy a guaranteed non-banned console used if it has been modded. What might not be banned at this moment in time may very well be flagged for banning and it's just a matter of time. If you buy a used modded console, you should assume it's banned and decide on what price you are willing to pay for a banned console.

The console is advertised as "brand new,box only open to perform extreme mod"
when you say banned,do you mean banned from online play?because im not interested in doing this,its mainly for my children to use

Yeah, banned from connection to Xbox Live. If you don't play to play games online, then it doesn't matter. You'd be better off getting a console without iXtreme firmware, then you don't have to worry about having patched backups.

dont go on live and use xtreme53.that way if your games are not fully stealthed they will still boot.

or use xtreme53 and still use live,if you get the boot you get the boot.

:mad: I wouldn't buy from memtech anyway. There customer service is poor. I bought a modded console on November 30th Took 3 weeks to come.:confused: Booted it up and connected to xbox live. Got the E66 drive error.:eek: Phoned CS and was told the 90 day warranty did not cover this. Had to open the 360 myself and flash new firmware. All Fine until two weeks later - three red lights. Phoned again to CS. Was told because I opened to reflash MYSELF that "their" warranty was void - what a joke.:(

Ended up sending back to MS as it was still under warranty and I did not damage the silver sticker. Got a reconditioned one back!!
