it's looks a little messy because I'm to lazy to cut stuff out from it.:o

the wire goes all the way around the cube.

saittam_j, You should post it in the Qoob background thread so that others can use it.

Maybe I'm crazy but I don't like the wire at all. I think it looks sloppy. No offense, I just don't understand what's cool about it.

I definitely still think it could be a lot brighter too. I was just saying that it looks better from the previous pictures.

Is that stuff el wire or is it something else?

sorry dont want to open my cube again,
its inside the gamecube,
behind the laser next to the power input.

it's bright enough it just dosent show so well on the pics and i dont want it to be brighter because it would be really anonying, it sits right under the tv.

the controllers have tri-winged screws, and i think you opened it before ^^ so where's the problem ?

wel it's not easy opening it.
it took a while for me to get it open the first time.

liquitt

i opened it, it lasted 30secs ;)

but i think i've found the spot, + and -
but do you know how many volts are going through there ?

saittam_j
06-05-2005, 02:38 PM
im not sure, but i think it's 5v

liquitt

thx for the info :)

did you use any resistor ?

saittam_j

no:p

liquitt
06-05-2005, 03:01 PM
so you now got a hand warming control pad ? :D

hm i'll see how many i'll take, as far as i see now, you used a very dark und unpowerful led, so if i use a 5000mcd or more LED, this could be getting funny :D

saittam_j
06-05-2005, 03:05 PM
LOL:D

liquitt
06-05-2005, 03:20 PM
you think i could use two 5mm LEDs ?

saittam_j
06-05-2005, 03:22 PM
maybe but the motor wont rumble much any more.

liquitt
06-05-2005, 03:23 PM
is yours also slowed down ?

saittam_j
06-05-2005, 03:27 PM
no 2v led.

liquitt
06-05-2005, 03:28 PM
k

saittam_j
06-05-2005, 03:47 PM
no because im only using 1 2v led.

liquitt
06-05-2005, 03:53 PM
i already said k ;)

liquitt
06-05-2005, 03:57 PM
btw, do i have to GND it ? or just in series and back to rumble motor ?

gulliver
06-05-2005, 06:56 PM
Damn, you guys got quite an annoying thread going on here. Why don't you just PM each other. It's like reading IM's - lol.

Anyway, to open the GC controller easily, all you need is a $5 set of micro screwdrivers (you can get them at radio shack or any hardware store). Use the flathead that fits good and it's really easy to get them in and out.

liquitt
06-06-2005, 01:16 AM
or buy the original tri-wing for 6$, for example at liksang

Tri-Wing Screwdriver (http://www.lik-sang.com/info.php?category=209&products_id=1850&PHPSESSID=c745ff7751c685e779f46e249700fad3)

Seems like a ripoff to me. You can pay less than that and get a set of micro screwdrivers that you'll be able to use for many other things than just opening up nintendo stuff. Plus it's extremely easy to screw and unscrew them with a tiny flathead.

liquitt
06-06-2005, 05:52 AM
i'll take a closer look on that ;)

but thx for the info, never tried that

liquitt

question: can i solder another cable to the + and - spots or do i have to cut the existing wire and integrate the LEDs into that circuit ?

No problem;) It's seriously just like screwing/unscrewing a regular flathead screw. It really works that well.

If you're talking about the 12v power supply on the GC then yeah, you can connect multiple wires to the wires you have running from the + and - spots.

i'm talking about the 5V (?) source on the controller pcb

btw: my mod doesn't work ://

Well, I haven't tried a controller mod yet, but I'm probably going to be some time soon.

@ saittam_j

does the LED only light up when the motor rumbles ?
