View Full Version : Nintendo Announcing New Hardware At E3?

DC RID3R

The forthcoming E3 2007 is expected to be just as big as ever despite previous reports that the conference was to be scaled down, and according to the latest rumours, Nintendo have something BIG to announce at the show, and I'm not talking about games. Apparently, the mighty N, will have "grosse révélation au niveau Hardware" (big hardware news) along with a look at Mario Kart for the Wii and Super Mario Galaxy (amongst others). What the big hardware revelation could be is anyone's guess so, for the time being, keep this one tagged as rumor.

The Gameboy Tiny, a new gameboy advance version which is two times smaller than the gameboy micro and because of this has smaller screens which are sharper and brighter. You can also play MP3's on it.

k now serious.

It might be the new Gameboy or a new Wii version with dvd playback.

They didn't expect DS to do so well so plans for a new gameboy have been in the closet for a while so they don't **** on the ds's parade.

However, it's time for something like a portable gamecube.

its the Wii2 ofcourse, with graphics to rival the PS3, a $600 price tag, unreliable as hell and has no 'kiddie' or 'casual' games. Now all the 360 and PS3 morons will be happy they can buy another expensive console almost identical to the one they already have.

well..maye not, i doubt there is a major new handheld or home console announcement, probably just a miss translation. Mario Kart Wii will take the light here, cant wait :)

And, it's called Tiny because it's smaller than a Mini SD card and it works my injecting it straight into your ass.

I wouldn't doubt a new Gameboy though. Gameboy Advance came out awhile ago so it's about time for a new one. I don't expect the DS to reflect at all on the next GB though, at least not by what they said when first releasing the DS.

I hope its a wireles nunchuck because the wire is a bit of a pain at times. Or maybe a longer wire for nunchuck so instead of looking like you are skipping you actually can lol. It would be foolish to make another gameboy at this point or a successor as the ds is doing too well for that. I could see nintendo going for something completely different to go after the market they are trying to capture of non gamers which is something I would like to see as the more people gaming the better i say.

I hope they'll announce a battery pack for the wiimote. A wireless nunchuck would be cool as well.

A lag-free Wiimote would be very welcome news. Not least because it would mean that Time Crisis 4's gun will probably also be lag-free when it becomes available.

A kart you can actually sit down in... or even better, a wii keyboard, ready for the new instant messaging channel :)

An open-sourced PSP alternative. One that has at least the specs and processing power of Sonys pocket wonder, unlike the GP2X.

A new version of the DS with built in storage (512MB) and connects to the Wii to play purchased Virtual Console titles.

Actually I suspect it might be that Nintendo is increasing the production of the Wii, DS or Wii sales news, or the release of the Wii in different colors. Might be a little bit of all three because I don't think we will see colors until supply increases.

A device like the Expansion pak that was out for the N64, just to give the wii a little more kick.

A device like the Expansion pak that was out for the N64, just to give the wii a little more kick.

That would be a real bad idea as its like saying you need a hard drive for some 360 games and just alienates those who own the basic machine alone. I also thought the expansion pack on the n64 was a huge mistake for the same reason.

Hardware:
1. Wii USB-Harddrive
2. Wii Zapper
3. Wii Keyboard
4. New Wii Colors
5. Wireless Nunchuck
6. Wii incl. DVD Playback, 5.1 Sound and LAN

Software:
1. Mario Kart Wii (I think so)
2. Demo Channel for Wii Games
3. New Shop Channel for 3rd Party Games (like XBOX360)
4. Red Stell 2
5. Nintendogs Wii
(6.) Maybe a Rockstar Game, maybe GTA?

Why would they make a new gameboy ... thats what the DS is .. it's the newest portable Nintendo system that plays GBA games ... hence it is a GB system. The next in the line of portable nintendo systems

Nintendo Portable Timeline:
Game and Watch (early - mid 80's)
GB (1989)
GB Pocket (1996)
GBC (1998)
GBA (2001)
GBA SP (2003)
GBA Micro (2005)
DS (2004)
DSL (2006)

But looking at this timeline one would think that a new portable unit might be in sight ... weather it's called a GBA or a DS .. or whatever ... My guess a new one that plays DS games.

nah, i doubt they would unveil any new hardware now, especially when their need for software is so crucial. I think the Wii is great and all, but i am absolutley dissapointed with the current channels, VC setup, and wifi system. All of those need to be added onto, plus wii are in a game drought. Besides, with both of the systems so sucessful, why rock the boat?

I'm not saying that its a new gamboy they're going to announce but your statement is dead wrong. Nintendo specificaly said that the DS was not part of the Gameboy family. Thats why it was the Nintendo DS and not the Gameboy DS. They also said something along the lines that they would probably return to the Gameboy line oneday but nothing was planned as of yet. I don't remember exact quotes but it was in an interview posted in Nintendo Power and on the internet.

i think the new hardware is a hard drive, because nintendo said they will have a new channel for original games for download. plus i can see the vc expanding as well to dreamcast, sega cd, 32x, 3do and eventually 3rd party ps1 games just without using a playstation logo. and prob older pc games..

but i will not support online content of classics or new games until they have a flat monthly fee, like gametap which is like under $7 a month for unlimited play

i cant see them going to a new gameboy til 09, because in 2008 a version of the ds will be out next year (just a cosmetic change like the lite) since next year the ds lite will be 2 years old. i just see the gameboy coming 2 years late.

@dcxbox I agree. I wasn't using that for proof of it being time for a new gameboy just pointing out some facts from nintendo. I think that if we see another traditional style gameboy from nintendo it will be awhile due to the success of the ds. I think we may never see another traditional system from nintendo. I hope thats not true but with the success of DS and now Wii it may have changed the way nintendo looks at hardware.

Personaly I'm betting on the hard drive for wii.

it won't be a new gba cos it is dead. might be a new ds who knows. oh i know it will be a new ds with a wiimote! :D

New Wii colour/Wii with DVD playback: I don't think they could call this a noticeable hardware change. And I think DVD playback will be a downloadable channel.

Remote nunchuck: One might be coming but this also isn't noticeable hardware change.

New GBA version: You're kidding right?

New DS version: This is most likely, although I don't know what they would want to change unless it has a phone built in or something.

Zapper for Wii: You mean a gunlike holder for wiimote would be a noticeable hardware to be announced at E3? Funny.

Completely new home console or handheld: No way, it woudn't be good business at this point.

So the bottom line I'm confused about what it could be, maybe a mistranslation?

I still say a lag-free Wiimote would be the best news possible. They could disguise this primary feature by presenting it in new colors.

Second best news would be a Classic / Gamecube controller patch for Zelda, and/or a promise that the motion / aiming functions of the Wiimote will not be required to play Smash Bros. Granted, those aren't specifically hardware-related.
