So about a month ago my 360 died... three red lights. I sent it back and they shipped me a refurb 4 or 5 days later. No problem there.
Today I go to turn it on again and guess what? Three red lights again. I call support and I get this one guy with a heavy southern accent. He basically treats me like an idiot and after I do everything he tells me too, and still get the red lights, he hangs up on me. I'm sure it wasn't intentional... at least I hope it wasn't.
So after calling them again and being on hold for another 10 minutes, I get someone else who sounds very sympathetic and offers to fix my 360. I mention to her that its the second time this has happened and she apologizes. So at the end of the phone call she asks me for my credit card number. I ask her if its still under warranty and she says no, the warranty expired on May 6th!!! 10 F#cking days ago! Seeing as how this is my second one broken I would think they could fix this one for free, but of course thats not the case. Has anyone encountered this problem. I really can't afford the cost of fixing it but do I have a choice? Is there someone I can contact or something?Any help would be greatly appreciated.

dabigmandan, you and me both.

3 weeks ago my 360 (from jan this year) died on me.
I sent it in for repairs under warranty, got it back on tuesday ... well a refurb anyways (diff serial)

It played flawlessly on tues and weds, acted up a bit on thursday, so I cleared the HDD (since it didn't have the red ring of death)

Started it up tonight for a bit of BurnOut fun > freeze after 2 mins > reboot > 3 red lights

It's isolated from any heat sources, power supply is isolated from any heat source as well, both have plenty of free space around them.
I never move my 360 and it's standing in horizontal position and still I get red lights. Good job MS, now I'll have to wait another 2-3 weeks to play on my expensive piece of hardware

Of coz this happens on a friday night.

Good thing the government here says electronics like this have a 2 year warranty, plus it should still be under MS warranty as well.

If the time frame is right on this, you were misled or flat out lied to. Microsoft gives you a 90 day warranty on any console they repair under warranty, and if it was a month ago you should still be well within this time frame. Personally, after the bad service and idiotic CSRs (not to mention shoddy refurbished product), I would complain until they agree to give you a new console for all of the inconvenience.

Here's a quote from Microsoft's warranty policy:

If we repair your Xbox 360 within the original warranty period, you will receive either the balance of your original warranty, or 90 days, whichever is longer. In addition, we will now pay for the shipping both ways.

Save yourself some aggravation and learn to fix the thing yourself. (xclamp replacement). Sending your defective units back to microsoft won't get you anywhere cause they only sending you refurbished units that has the same design flaw that they refuse to acknowledge and correct. Which is the xclamp is bending the board in the most undesirable way.
