View Full Version : Fixes with Game IDs

Hi All,
Having fixed the issue with Resident Evil 2 and Dino Crisis I did some further investigation today.
FFVII does not correct with the Hell Bubble bug using the Japanese ID so back to 3.11 for this still.
I also tested Dino Crisis 2, as it was missing the voices as with DC1. This didn't work, nor did using the DC Game ID so again back to 3.11 for that.
These fixes do suggest the RE2 is being prepped for release on playstation store as the fix is specific to the ID of the Japanese game. It also suggests that Sony are using only one game id for each disk as Claires disk doesn't work using its own ID.
This also suggests that Sony are specifically fixing a game at a time for compatability which also explains the drip feed of games. One would assume when they suggested all the games would be playable they did not expect to come up against so many compatibility issues with individual games and their solution is to to have some kind of DB of game fixes built into popsloader, which seems like very lazy development. Added to that, it seems likely that every game needs to be comprehensively playtested for bugs and I can't imagine they will invest too time or money into that. It would be no suprise to find them on these forums and using us as beta testers!
At the moment all the games I intend to play seem to work either on 3.40E or with 3.11 popsloader so I am happy. The only game I haven't tested is RE3 which some have suggested hangs a bit later in the game with a similar issue to RE2. If someone can test using the japanese ID to see if the issue still occurs that would be helpful as I am not ready to play it yet and I suspect it is a long way in.
For anyone having game specific problems though I suggest trying the japanese ID's as it is possible that some compatibility fixes exist, but popsloader doesn't know how to recognise them without the right ID.

Ditto, nice one mate. We should wrap up a game list with those games working using the method now widely described of both you and Dany. We got some games now so far:
Resident Evil 2 (Pal/ntsc/GH Version/ DS Version)
Dino Crisis 1 (Pal/ntsc)
Brave Fencer Musashi (ntsc/u)
As long as we get feedbacks about newer tests we should make one. Just an idea thought. And beside, althought i think its pretty clear, i agree on all the hipothesys you made.

He's the one who posted that Biohazard 2 works which then inspired graz68 to do the Game ID swap so my question is: Have you been sleeping under a rock, too? :)
