EZFlash V 3in1 Expansion with M3 Simply?

I have an M3 Simply DS Slot 1 solution but I am looking for a way to also play GBA ROMs.

I saw the EZFlash V 3in1 expansion reviewed somewhere, where it stated that it worked with any kind of Slot 1 solution, including the EZFV, R4 and M3.

So I was about to buy one... when I read somewhere else that it only works with the EZFV because it requires the EZFV to be updated before it can be used.

So which is true?

Because, at only £15, the expansion would be an excellent addition to my DS, giving it GBA ROM support, as well as being able to use the browser and adding the rumble feature. However, if necessary, I can sell my M3 and buy the EZFV with expansion bundle instead.

Or - can anyone suggest any other alternatives to run GBA ROMs? A slot 2 solution that takes MicroSD cards would also come in handy for me...

Homebrew developers have been able to get the expansion pack's GBA compatibility working with other slot-1 devices like the R4 and M3 Simply. See http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=59062 for some details and download links.

Just make sure you have a DS Lite or the pack won't fit.

An alternate solution would be a Supercard Lite or M3 Lite, which both take microSD cards and fit in DS Lites.

Thanks man, I've done some more searching and found the software that will allow me to use the expansion with my M3. So for £15 that's a pretty good addon! Although the extra memory slot might come in useful, so I'm going to shop around for an M3 Lite before I buy the 3in1.

Sounds good, just make sure you don't get lured into an M3 Pro or a Supercard Rumble, both of which have little/no RAM in them, making them useless for GBA gaming.

hang on, i have an R4 which is exactly the same as an M3 right? but you recommended (bgmnt) the EZFlash 3in1 in another thread, but i have a ds not ds lite, so will i be able to use this? , it's mainly for opera browser, and gba roms. So to sum it up i have an original Nintendo DS, with an R4DS with a 1gb Micro SD, will the EZFlash 3in1 work for me?

The R4 is the same as the M3 Simply, which is the M3 brand slot-1 card. The M3 Perfect and Pro are slot-2 devices that have been out much longer.

Unfortunately no, it only fits DS Lites. However, according to this topic at SCdev (http://scdev.org/forum/viewtopic.php?t=9878), there is a Phat-sized version coming out soon.

Will be running it on a CycloDS Evo instead as just got one to replace the M3 Simply. (nice little cart M3 has some ups on it Cyclo has others the M3 don't) still got both now :)
