Living Nintendo legend Nintendo Shigeru Miyamoto has looked to confirm Nintendo's stance in the world of online play. He stated that a lot of people falsely believe Nintendo have no belief in network gaming. However Miyamoto states they are very interested in ideas of having the household television connected to the internet via the Wii, thus pushing forward new Wii channels.

A lot of people have the misunderstanding that Nintendo is not interested in network gaming. What we are interested in isn't so much the idea of creating a game that is online and networked in a way that we have seen online up until now. We are really more interested in this idea of having the household television connected to the Internet constantly via the Wii. I think you are going to see a lot of new possibilities for new types of entertainment, such as new channels for the Wii in that type of network environment.

I think that will give rise to more social-based communities including those created by users, which is going to be a very interesting and exciting area for us to explore.

i think that nintendo might be holding on to things like online game play trying to make it better, so when it comes out people want to use it. it seems that sony should have done that, most companies created there own online play instead of using sony's because they didn't like it. hopefully when nintendo starts revealing the online stuff it will be better than everyone has thought it was going to be.

He's basically saying that forums and IM'ing are better then online gaming.

I'd rather play games against people on my gaming console then create "social communites" with them.

hey , less talking more online gaming. Who would of thought there would be a worse online system than what ps2 and dreamcast had.
