PS3 software attach rate hits 1.65

A strong opening weekend for the PS3 in UK has resulted in the respective software attachment rate reacing 1.65. Many are calling this a success due to the high price of the console, by comparison the PS2's opening weekend attach rate was just 1.67.



Just as it revealed that Resistance: Fall of Man and MotorStorm had swept into the top two spots in the all formats listings this week, ChartTrack also confirmed that overall, PS3 games were sold at a software-to-hardware ratio of 1.65.

Considering the price of the console, this represents a significant success for platform holder Sony, although its predecessor PS2 boasted an opening weekend attach rate ratio of 1.67.

Well this is very good, much better then selling millions of consoles in JAP/USA and not selling any games. Still they really need to up the ante with the releases sooner rather then later.

Considering the really sparse lineup, that is a decent attachment rate considering there is arguably only two good games at the moment worth buying in Resistance and Motorstorm.
