First:well to start off the only bad thing about your firmware is that it's(3.10) and that means that you can't change your Icons [topmenu_plugin.rco]
Second: you will need to access the recovory mode (completely shutdown the PSP then hold the R trigger and reboot it while holding the R trigger.)
third:you will need to go to advanced and select flash0
Fourth: you will also have to have your USB pluged in when you click on
flash0
fifth:you will see 6 folders go into (vsh) then go to resource [this is where all of your icon, background waves, battery, volume bar, opening boot up, gameboot, "Clicksounds" and month background plugins are located. DO NOT DELETE FILES YOU DON'T KNOW ABOUT! just replace them.
Sixth:get your self an XMB pack of some kind and replace these plugins with the new ones you want.
Icons = topmenu_plugin.rco
Background Waves = system_plugin_bg.rco
Month themes = 1-12.bmp
Click Sounds = system_plugin.rco
Gameboot = gameboot.pmf
Opening sounds = opening_plugin.rco
Volume Bar = impose_plugin.rco
Battery bar = system_plugin_fg.rco
Savedata loading icon = savedata_plugin.rco
game loading icon = game_plugin.rco
photo loading icon = photo_plugin.rco
Font = ltn0.pgf
For font when you first select flash0 in recovery mode the first 6 folders come up. click on the one that says font and paste ltn0.pgf in it and replace it.
Well that's just the basics for ya
HAVE FUN
P.S. i'll try to upload a cool starter pack for you.

hi iceman, i downloaded ur package, and i copy that blood gameboot and replace it with mine in the Resource folder but when i run my games, the orginal gameboot comes up with no sound, leaving me no choice and to revert back to my orginal gameboot file, any idea?

Ok, I'm totally sure that anything thats over 3.03 OE-C has the Icon changing disabled. (not including 3.03oe-c) Meaning, everything but custom icons work on a 3.10 OE. (But i forget why its only icons you can't do.)
-So I fixed the gameboot, and even tryed it, to make sure it worked, and it did!
But it took up memory space and it didn't fit in the resource folder. (the whole flash0 USB is only like 24MB and it only leaves you with like 140kb to use, thats why you replace the exsisting files)
To get more space for the gameboot you go into the font folder and replace jpn0.pgf and gb3s1518.bwfon with my smaller ones in the download.
(the original jpn0.pgf and gb3s1518.bwfon are 1MB and 1.5MB!!!)
So it does save alot of space!
jpn0.pgf = japanesse font
gb3s1518.bwfon = I think german font
Well here the smaller fonts and fixed gameboot
ENJOY!!!!!

Iceman thanks for writing tutorial how to install the XMB.. I'm newbe and is very usefull to use...
thank so much...
I want to asking:
I have 3.03 OE_C PSP, and I have topmenu_plugin.rco (260kb) , and itn0.pgf (31.6kb)
how can I installing on my psp? did it the same like your tutorial?
just press R when turn on PSP so we are in recovery mode..., attach the UMD cable on PSP, go to advanced then select flash0, go to vsh and then go into resource, copy for backup the original.. and then just replace them with topmenu_plugin.rco (260kb) , and itn0.pgf (31.6kb)... and after that would should I do to exit and finished the action and enjoy the work?
^ yep yep, just make sure u back up ur original files (i say just copy both folders (flash 0 & 1). then replace ur mod files over the ones in the flash. and exit recovery hopefully if all is well it should all change. but make sure ur mod files aint too big. otherwise u will have a prob if flash space is low. if thas the case read iceman's guide to freeing some space (great guide he has put).

This was misleading to me because I thought it was gonna teach you how to make your own .rco and .pgf (etc...) because I want to make this one theme because there is no theme of it. So if someone could either give me a tut on how to make one or if you could make on for me (pm me) that would be nice. Ps. The theme I want is a the mars volta (a band) theme.
