a m8 of mine has a firmware flashed 360 (with an Hitachi drive) and for the past few days his console had been 'freezing' during gameplay with every game, which is very annoying. But he then contacted me yesterday to say that when he turns the console on he now gets the '3 red lights of doom'.
Im going to pick it up later and see if I can fix it (before returning it to Micro$oft) What should I try first? And at what point should I give up and just return it fr him?
Thanks in advance guys ;)

this is serious, try wrapping it in a towel switched on for about 2 hours, it might solve it, then your next step is to use a heat gun on the motherboard, if its still in warranty, return it to microsoft, its easier

Thanx for the advice m8. I hear that most of these 'fixes' are only temp and the problem usually comes back, is that true?
I may give the towel method a try before I try to return it anyway ;)

Send it back. I've had the same problem too. It even came to a point when when I turned on my Xbox 360 it got stuck! It is best to send it back.

well this maybe cheating ect bt what if you get it to work for a few hours and exchange it in a game shop they will test it see its working nd give you cash but then a week later it wont work they wont sell it for a while when the costumer see's its not working it cant be your fault because you can say you had it for a long while you may off damaged it and then they cant do a thing:D

The towel trick is to see if you can get it to boot properly just the once, if you can get it to boot once, the xbox can be repaired yourself, but if your under warranty, then return it

if you wrap it in a towel for about 2 hours, try for about 10 mins to boot it, if it boots once, then you need to do the heat gun method properly, and apply artic silver, and do a proper job of it. Artic silver is about £10 delivered, and try and borrow a heat gun.

heat gun should be the last resort because then you lose you warranty if you open the console. Also wouldn't the flash firmware thingy void the warranty?
