got Xtreme 5.2 firmware and the new xtreme bootmaker listed in this thread...

Entered my xbox serial number
chose "List SCSI Devices" and my VIA controller was detected and I/O automatically prefilled with values..

I selected ms25 from the drop down box on the front screen and selected my backup location as my USB drive..

Created the usb backup device without a problem..

Connected my 360 to the sata port (have tried both the internal and the external) rebooted the pc...started up the xbox..

the dos window loaded but when I type "xRead 123456 1234" (substuting my serial number)

and press enter..It will not detect my VIA SATA controler..it only detects 2 IDE drives...which i know arent the correct selection...

I have been messing about with the BIOS to no avail for ages and have tried 2 different SATA cables...

but the card is still not detected at the xFlash or xRead stage?

any idea :O( ??

Cheers

if your computer has onboard Sata that is incompatible, turn that off in the bios and then try it

so use the command if thats the command.i dont use xtreme bootmaker,i got mtkflash for my sata and i use floppy.also it will give you option of xtreme not sata.there maybe sata as an option but,if you get xtreme option then pick it.

i dont use xtreme bootmaker,i know how to hack the drives so i dont need to do any reading of tutorials any more..

but,thanks for the info.

On my old DFI 250GB nforce 3 motherboard it would not detect my via controller until i unplugged ALL of my other IDE SATA ports. With just the via controller connected it gets it first time every time.

A lot of people have problems with the driver that came with the Sata card.
The one over at ViaArena seems better (for a lot of folk). Don't have the link to hand but should be O.K to Google.

First off you have to Use the back port When flashing Sammy using Via. This is usually the one at the arse end of the card facing into the PC (presuming you have the 2 internal SATA and I IDE version... along with sometimes 1 external, it's all the same).

Thats part 1.

Part 2, Disable everything on your motherboard in the BIOS. Thats all your Hard Drives and CD drives. Sometimes when Dos loads from USB stick/floppy it's lazy and won't look beyond the obvious MOBO based ports. I mean completely disable as well, don't just unplug.

I never bother with samread and all that other tosh. I generally go with....

MTKFLASH r /sata orig.bin (from the A Prompt)

It's the oldest way but even now it's always a goodun.

If you've disabled all motherboard drives you will now get your options.

Depending on how many ports the card has you'll get X number of options. As my card is the 2 SATA and 1 IDE my choice is generally 3.... will differ if you have different model.

Let me know if this works, If not PM me and I'll see about sending you my MTKflash file for the VIA card that may well work as a last resort

i got safecom card, used the via drivers supplied with the cd it came with, never had to disable or remove anything from the mobo.

never had a problem with any fw=ms25 drives i have done.

you could try moving the card to another pci slot, some people have had the same probs with their cards, they moved it to another spare pci slaot and got it working.also try a sata device on the card, who knows you might have a buff card.

the card i got has 1 external and 1 internal + ide,the master port is the internal port.

some cards tend to stop functioning when the drive is powered up before dos boots in,try to turn the power on the xbox360 after you get to dos.

I hope I dont have this problem...my via card should be here today or tomorrow. Especially since I can't disconnect my main hard drive because I use NTFSDOS cd.

Try my edited MTKflash before you worry too much might work might not.

Extract these and copy over those on your USB stick.

The link in the driver page you sent is for Vista drivers I think, should be O.K if thats what you're running.

Disable drives remember :-)
