Sup guys, i need help.. My psp analog is not working and is pressing on its own... when i go to a game it seems the analog is stuck on down internally..It seems as if its static because when i touch the 4 squared solderings where the analog touches the board with my thumb on all four at once, the analog stops automovements... I kno this has to be static, problem is how do i fix it... Thanks

It may be that the analog stick may be broken, but it should have fixed after you touched the solderings

Hey i had the same problem after i opened my psp. I removed the screen and it seems that the me metal under the thumb stick was moved down because i forced the screen out. I used a flat head screwdriver and it went back in to place and make sure you tighten the screw on right bottom side of the psp well so it can make good contact. This is what happened to me but your problem might be different good luck!

are u serious?

Dude.. all you had to do was tighten the screw.

I had this same problem when I went from my purple faceplate and tried to put the stock on back on, all it did was go down. then I put the purple one back on and applied presure around it and screwed the screw in tight and it stopped.

instead, you have sent it off for 3 weeks, no telling how much you payed for a simple solution as screwing a screw in more

Yeah, a lot of psp's have this problem....including mine
While your waiting for a new analog , you can still play games using cwcheats key remap option, thats what i'm doing.

Check this thread
http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=51910

EDIT i've made a remap file so i can play Vice City Stories, D-PAD movement, left analog-change radio station/weapon, analog up-accept missions and select for sirens on/free aim. All other buttons function the same, PM me if you want the file

My analog control starts in the top left position (although if I move it with the unit off it moves freely as it should). Example, MLB 07, When I am ready to throw a pitch, the ball icon is over the right handed batters head, I have to move it to the strike zone, if I release it, it goes to the top left again. Should I return the unit? Or open it up and investigate?
Also, how hard is it to install a new one?

my analog stick suxxx too...
in a couple of games as example gta... guy is allways auto moving to the right.

this is so annoying.

i heard that you can adjust the stick new under system information tab.
tried it some times but nothing fixed the auto movement.
dont want to send the psp in for that reason.. so i think i will buy a new analog stick sometime to get rid of this auto movement shizzl.

any other ideas?

Where do you see you can configue it at?

http://www.playstation.com/manual/pdf/PSP-1001K-2.7_1.pdf

To optimize the analog stick's functionality, with the "System Settings" displayed, you can rotate the analog stick in a circular motion to adjust its range of movement.

know what? I just answered you above your post. You dont SEE anything different, you just rotate the stick while viewing your firmware version.

That didn't work.

If I squeeze the bottom left of the unit, the thumbstick works fine. If I release pressure, it defaults top left.
Leaving me to think something is loose. Maybe I should buy a small screw driver and make sure its tighter.

I seem to have a similar problem, when my analogue stick is stuck, it kinda feels funny, almost as if there's no more spring, and it faces resistance moving around.

I used to jiggle it a bit and it gets unstuck, but recently, it is getting worse, easier to get stuck, and harder to get unstuck.

Can this be solved without opening the unit? If opening is involved, is this a difficult task? Any online tutorial with pictures? Do I need to buy a new analogue stick (and where froM?).

Thanks all.

This and most problems witht he analog stick can be solved by either tightening or loosening the screw on the lower right of the PSP as you look at it from behind. Most people should NOT have to replace the analog stick unless they have physically broken it in some way (liquid spilled into it, the stick broke off etc...). HG93 was just too lazy to open his up and rather than learn how to fix something on his own he would rather pay sony however much money it costs to fix even though it is MUCH cheaper to fix it yourself if you know how. If you dont know how, go to www.acidmods.com and SEARCH around thier forums before posting and you WILL find the answers you are looking for.

What size screw driver is needed to tighten the screws on the PSP? #00?

Ok... soo this is my analog unit story. haha...

I totally destroyed my analog unit a while back. It started making a clicking noise I played metal gear solid portable ops online. From what I seen many people that play that game eventually busts their anlaog unit. The part that your thumb goes on goes into the unit itself and ends in a circular disc. It is all a single piece of plastic. When i disassembled the unit and looked at it the disc spilt in half LOL. Imagine how much pressure it would take to split that piece of plastic cleanly in half. :)

Anyway, like many said the screws are your friends. Not only the screw on the back. But also the 2 small silever screws that attach the unit to the inside of the facplate can be adjusted as well. Of yeah crappy 3rd party faceplates is numero uno reason for weird analog unit movement. And by crappy i mean the vast majority of them.;)

I just found a tutorial video online which I thought may be of use to people having this problem, at least it shows some disassembling of the stick:

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=410876930667648100

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-7800258867175013512

The second video contains detailed instructions on disassembly. I note that the author said that the stick must be parallel to the top.

This appears to be my problem, as I notice that my stuck problem usually occurs when the stick is rotated such that it is no longer parallel (in the heat of gaming for example).

Sometimes, jiggling it and rotating it at the same time fixes the problem - although this is becoming more and more difficult nowadays.

Any ideas?
