People bashing MC and their choices

ive been on these forums for a while without posting however lately ive been reading up on these "modchip" arguments over who is better,MC is biased,and what not and to be honest its pretty annoying to those that come here to read information trying to get passed the fanboyism and the stupidity. oh wow MC desides to go with a chip that shipped first as their product of choice big whoop what company doesnt do this? they like the cyclon because it has obvious ease of install and use features. to be totally honest between the wiinja and cyclon looking at them image wise i see the obvious reason one would pick the cyclon it looks easy to install,gives ps2 modders the familiarity of solderpoint installs. the wiininja may to some have better code but presentation wise it looks like something youd expect to see on a psx in 1996. as for calling them identical i would hardly see how anyone knows what code is on either chip yet especially forum ranters. even if the code was similar on the chips they are built completely different heck 1 is actually built the other is just a pic chip u can get at radioshack. anyway i just wanted to voice out what i feel, lets all be mature and stop calling MC "yellow journalism" or ranting on who is better and who isnt.

A chip is a chip as long as it does what it should do, no matter how it looks.
PIC chips are used in practically all electronic devices, just because they look simple and plain doesnt mean they are.

Im not knocking either modchip, but i at least think that maxconsole should deliver all information completely unbiased independant of who they choose to endorse.

The fact of the matter is as long as both chips work, and are presented in a way where its not deceiving to the buying public, if one chip turns out to be better, or doesnt work etc etc the forums members will advertise all the do`s and donts easily enough.

to me its not biased so long as the product preforms well and does what it is sold to do. their selection is mearly a preference that people should just respect and get along with. i myself went with the cyclon because im horrible with soldering wires and have been successful with those wireless solder pads on the original GCN. i would only worry if MC was advertising a product that was vaporware or didnt work as promised. but the truth is they are being payed to advertise a product that works so why should anyone complain?

hey, no ones complaining, i`m just stating that regardless of whatever benefits some one gets for pushing a certain product, every product should be treated the same and be given an unbiased chance.

i`m not for any chip in particular, just stating the obvious.

I don't see them pushing anything. They are not stopping people from talking about the other 2 chips. They just aren't posting their own review of them. I am sure if anyone wants to make their own review about either chip and post a thead, it wouldn't be deleted or anything.

Exactly.. Unlike other forums I have seen that censor. This place has been very open. Can't blame them for pushing a product.

I was reading a thread over at wiinewz where it was obvious the site operator was heavily biased to the wiinja, guess what, people started asking questions about the obvious bias and the thread magically disappeared.

I have not seen that here.

Is that not why people complain about that PSX news site that censors practically everything?

I think most of these negative posts are probably from some of their other competition. (About max console being this and that)

there is clear bias in the news here...and the reason why you have not seen that here is because threads that post about MC being biases have been deleted.

Here is the timeline
1) MC announce that wiinja will not be upgradable (short death?)
2) MC announce cyclowiz (wiinja outdated before its released?)
3) MC releases its "review" that doesn't even mention the non-upgradable being a con (when they cleared made the wiinja sounded like bad chip when it wasn't upgradable)
4) In the review, it states "We probably already have a winner in the Wii modchip competition that just started!" ...um is that not biases?
5) Wiikey is announced but the news post has "rumored and claimed" all over it making it sound like the chip is not going to come out. They state that "it could be far from production" when the site clearly states that the shiping date is feb 7th. And neglects to emphasize the fact that they have upgradable function (which is stupid btw, you can't update a chip when it doesn't work which is when you would update a chip in the first place)
6) Cyclowiz makes front page when its "upgrade feature" is shown, making it "FUTURE PROOF"..LOL...
7) Wiinja doens't work on D2B chips ( the hardware chip renders the Wiinja useless.)
8) Cyclowiz has the same problem but is totally in reverse...instead of saying that if you have the D2B chip, u can't use Cyclowiz, it says that Cyclowiz is completely compatible with the DMS and D2A chipsets. I also like the "seemingly rare" wording :P
9) Team Cyclops makes front page AGAIN when there is new media on their site but wiinja gets a new forum and nothing at all...

I don't know guys...it seems pretty obvious to me that its more then just "preference"

I lurk in these forums allot but don't post very often. However i just wanted to say that i agree with the thread starter. I find it completely annoying to come in here and read thread after thread of how biased MC is. It makes it practically impossible to find any helpful information when its one post out of hundred, the other 99 being MC sucks.
Yes, MC is being biased. Do we all know this? Yes. If you were getting a kickback from sales wouldn't you too? Lets be honest, if you were selling a product would you make your product sound better than the opposition.

Everyone keeps saying that its not right for them to spread biased news. Really? Its their website. No one is forcing any of us to come here. I have been on other forums that are heavily censored, that doest go on here. What makes these sites so useful is the user interaction. So instead of b!tching about it non-stop lets just try to get what information we do know out there.

Is one chip better than the other? Probably, but if your going to let one review, or one website make your mind up for you, then shame on you. This is still the early stages for the Wii. We should all be doing as much research as we can from as many different sources as we can. If something from one particular site bothers you take it with a grain of salt.

And for all of those complaining nonstop about how biased MC is being, have you never gotten anything useful from the site? I think you have or you wouldn't be here now. I for one don't care how much someone is trying to sell me something, I'm an adult and can make educated decisions on my own.

Sorry for the rant, I'm just sick of all the complaining.

If you don't like the site, then don't read it. Why come here and say the same thing over and over? It is getting old.
So what if they have sponsers to pay the bills. I am sure if you paid them enough, they would put some pictures of the wiininja on the front page.
I see alot of stuff on the front page that has nothing to due with the wii modchips. Why do you guys care so much if they are sponsered by one of them? They are all so far pretty much the same.

Their is a difference between a SALES AD and a independent Review. A SALES AD talks about KEY Pluses of their Product and makes the Negatives very, very small. And talks trash about other products or doesn't talk about them at all.

A independent Review does not have a vested interest in any product and discusses Honestly the Pro's and Con's of all Products.

The Question is " Did MC cross the line between "Sales AD and Independent Review." And that is a valid discussion.

I don't know about you...but I thought reviews were suppose to be non-biased O.o.....whats the point of a review if it doesn't point out the positive and negative aspect of the product/game. The reason why I am here is because like some of you, I have come to respect MC's reviews and really like their informatoin and helpful members... but is it not also our job as part of the community to make it better by pointing out biased reviews...I mean...I am sorry to say...but there are people who are buying cyclowiz thinking its a superior product BECAUSE of these biases reviews (honestly.....they all do the same thing guys)

Lets see, nope, nothing that claims that every piece of news that they post MUST be true and unbiased.

Is this a site that we pay for? Is it a government ran site? Has MC ever once said that it wasn't being biased towards the cyclowiz? The answer is no. This is a privately ran, user oriented website. You all want unbiased reviews. Fine. Its simple. Write one and post it. I don't come here and immediately buy whatever product their pushing on the front page, and neither should anyone else. Thats just silly.
What I'm saying is that I'm really tired of reading all the BS surrounding the whole issue. Every time a new thread is started it gets turned into a "Lets bash MC" thread. I come here for useful information and right now its difficult to find it. If anyone here has any obligation its us, the users of this site. We should research, research, and heck, research some more. When we have something that we feel will help others we should post it. All the b!tching and moaning really doesn't help anyone. We all come here to learn and exchange ideas. Anyone ever heard the phrase "Its like beating a dead horse"?

Alot of people probably are not able to speak past their ANGER. The reason people say the same thing over and over again , is usually because the OTHER PERSON is NOT listening (really hearing them). Anger Builds. Their is NO comment coming from MC on this issue, if some statement was made , maybe looking into issue or making a "new policy" of at least "stating in review" we sell this chip and we want you to buy it" ...

LOL~ I thought The Maxconsole team are dedicated to bringing you the latest console development news just as you want it. We pride ourselves on being a no nonsense console gaming resource with a friendly community atmosphere.

I don't know...biases review are pretty nonsense to me....it screams "ad"! I guess all maxconsole is, according to you, is a commercial then instead of a console news site where there they only show "news" from people who have paid them. Truth is...when you come here, you look for accurate information and all you see is people ranting so you can't find anything you need...well... when I come here looking for accurate information, all I find is biase opinion that tells me Cyclowiz is the best chip there is right now for the wii whereas, anyone with a right mind can tell that all three chips are basically the same.

We both have the same goal, information from maxconsole...you seem to be content with information that may not be true, I want accurate information. I will take your advice and look elsewhere from now on, since I haven't been here a long time. I am sure I won't be missed ^^;; but lets hope that there is still something called integrity when it comes to journalism, even if its an online blog

Theres is absolutely nothing any of us can do about the fact that MC is giving its version of the truth, except be smart enough to not believe just one source.
Thats my point entirely, we shouldn't immediately believe anything we read, we should make educated decisions on our OWN research. Don't get me wrong guys I'm not defending MC, I'm just stating the reality of the situation. Theres nothing we can do about it. The best thing we can do is try to get as much accurate information out there as we can. As it stands now theres only fanboy posts for x chip. Thats stupid, it helps no-one.
