I am new to homebrew, only buying an M3 simply for my DSLite 2 weeks ago. I like to store pictures, videos and mp3's on my 2GB SDcard and I'd like to use just 1 program for these but at the moment that's not possible. Let me explain...

Picture and Animation
==================

If I want to view large pictures (dimensions) on my DS, I have to use Moonshell because DSOrganise doesn't support large pictures... it just gives me an error. If I want to view animations (GIFs), I have to use DSOrganise because Moonshell doesnt support animations.

I have to reboot my DS and change program to view animations and pictures.

Music
===========

I have approx 400 MP3's stored on my SDcard. I wish to use Moonshell to play these files but it appears Moonshell only allows a maximum of 255 files causing half of my music to dissapear. If I use DSOrganise, I can see all MP3 files however unlike Moonshell, this application has no power saving standby mode. I cannot close the DS to go to standby either because the music stops.

To listen to music, I have to use DSOrganise because it shows all my files. Unfortunely the backlight of both screens remains on while the music is playing which seriously drains the power of my DS.

Movies
============

Moonshell supports movies, DSOrganise does not. I have to switch programs to view movies.

Does anyone have a sensible solution for this? Why don't the creators of DSOrganise and Moonshell work together and merge the two programs into one?

Just get both. Moonshell is good for multimedia functions, and DSOrganize is good for... well it's a pda like program.

Moonshell does everything on your list except animated GIFs. If your music is not all showing up either edit the moonshell config file or put your MP3's in more then one folder. The two programs will never be merged because Dragonminded is burnt out and the Moonshell creator is from asia somewhere and all his blogs have to be translated.

What do you mean Dragonminded is burnt out?

I fixed the Moonshell showing only 255 files. I edited an ini file and changed the max value from 256 to 600.

He got tired of supporting DSorganise. From reading his blog I figure he wouldn't have the patients to deal with a non english speaking developer.

He got tired? Ah what a shame, he made an awesome program. Can't some knowledgeable person take over and work on DSOrganise?

Is there a program that supports SWF files? (flash)

I'm sure they could, there are several blank slots in the program for addons.

He got burned out? Didn't version 2.45 just come out not 2 long ago?

He did release a build with the DLDI driver integrated thats about it, check his blog if you want to see what I mean about burnout. He got really tired of people bugging him about support. Obviously he could change his mind but I don't expect to see many more addons from him for sometime. My real point was, there will never be a unified project with infantile_paralizer from moonshell.
