I don't understand this.

If there is zero tolerance for people just mentioning torrent sites or release group names then why is it ok for all these illegal installers to be directly linked here?

Dark AleX has said many times that the DATA.DXAR is illegal to share so why is it allowed here?

Hey, if people want to spend longer installing OE-C with an easy installer, then be my guest.

You have to download over 65mb just to get from OE-A to OE-A'.

If they want to waste your bandwidth, their time and want to read a readme.txt that is 10 times longer than the original program's readme, then by all means go ahead.

These easy installers are pointless. And the author of this topic should contact a member of staff here at MaxConsole directly via PM instead of posting about it. :)

yep, its mods problem, they talk so much crap about it, but look, they are not cheking anything, in the other hand, with so many ppl making uselles threads, what mod would like to read them all, i wouldnt, i would just keep baning ppl who ask things when theres stikies answering it, and close lots of uselles threads

i really dont see how hard it is to run an update maker, move a file and run the update. DAX has made it so easy already

Look at it this way: torrent sites and release group names are promoting the distribution of GAMES that Sony is SELLING to make its money. These easy installers are distributing a slightly modified version of two files Sony distributes for free all over the web. See the difference?

It's not only directly linked DATA.DXAR, PRX's and other (c) files are being hosted here all over, and yes Sony could go after maxconsole for hosting files like this.

I believe it teaches new users they don't need to learn how to do things on their own. It doesn't show how to fix things when there are errors. Those who tend to use it don't know how to put the folders where the readme states. This creates a tendency to not read the readmes then clutter the boards with questions addressed in the readme.

i mean what are the steps you have to do using D_A's readme?

Download 2 Updates (ok actually one should be named Downdate now :D)

Put them together with oeupdmaker > PSP

Put together DATA.dxar with 303oeflasher > PSP

hate easy installers. the direct method by DA is much more easier then those so called easy installers. made sense for devhook because that thing is a pain in the ass to install but not for OE firmware.

Are you ****** kidding me? They could crush this site as easily as ripping toilet paper in half.

Big site? I'm pretty sure lik-sang is a WAY bigger site then this and they got shut down by Sony.

They could easily force this site down in many ways. Basic way would be saying remove all of that or we will sue you. Max console would have no choice.

Second would be just to sue them or something. Sure, maxconsole would probably win but it would cost an ass load of money in court fees which Sony could easily pay but not maxconsole, still shutting it down. This would never happen but it was just an example.

I'm not particularly fond of the easy installers personally, for all the reasons people have mentioned already in this thread, plus sometimes it's obviously just someone trying to get credit from DAX's hard work.

But yeah, I would hate to see this forum shut down because of the increasing number of modified Sony files being shared, and make no mistake it will happen eventually this is Sony we're talking about.

If it was me, I would clamp down on it sooner rather than later. By the time Sony demands everything be removed there will be so much crap to sift through it will be a total nightmare to clean up.

The only easy installer i've used was the 2.80 downgrader. Which i'm glad i did, but as to the easy installers for OE updates that is just stupid.

DATA.DXAR isn't in any of DA's firmware upgrades.. u have to make it yourself with the upgrade maker..
so his posting is ok.. nothing illigal in that..

donno if some easyinstallers include that file but they souldn't ..
the DATA.DXAR sould always be generated on the PSP ur upgrading so it's the correct files and ur sure it works.

They all include it, that's why they call them easy installers because that step is done already and you just have to flash the update.

i agree with this thread 100%.

which is why the reason i have never uploaded or linked to any modified files. *ie all of our icon/subicon hacking. check my posts* i simply tell people how to do it themselves. why? for this very reason. sony is a failing desperate company and will do anything to protect their investments. as mentioned before, lik-sang is a very good example of this.


seriously, if someone really needs help and was too dumb/ignorant to back up their files before messing with stuff. if youre going to help them out, at least help them out via pm. not in an open forum that anyone can view.

If anyone finds an easy installer link, REPORT THE POST, all the mods receive a link to it via e-mail, and it will be closed by whoever is online.
