Hi,

I cant get my Hitachi 78FK into mode b. My motherboard is a Gigabyte with on-board VIA8237 chipset. The SATA mode is set to ATA (not RAID).

I have a DVD ROM and DVD RW on channel 0 (IDE). 1 HDD on channel 1 (IDE). 1 HDD on channel 0 (SATA) and 1 HDD on channel 1 (SATA).

I have disconnected both SATA HDD and connected the Hitachi to SATA channel 0. Power up the 360 (with game in drive). Power-up PC (with Slax 2.1). When I check if the 360 drive is in mode b (using double eject test), it isnt.

Should I see the 360 drive being identified in the BIOS POST? Currently it doesnt show anything.

I have tried connecting the 360 drive to the other channel (1) but still doesnt get into mode b.

Any suggestions

Thanks

slaxcd will only work with certain types of sata chipsets.

for example i got no onboard on this pc but,i got a vt6421(via)pci sata card.

the hitachi drive i have was flashed with the same card with the kit, but, messing with ripping using the kit i shorted the kit and killed the drive.so i sent it away and it was repaired.so the drive came back from repairs and the first day it booted every game just as it did before, but, the following day it was taking too many attempts before i got a game to boot.

i ended up buying a cheap samsung localy and replaced it.

so about 4 weeks or so ago i decided to flash it to get it in tip top condition(just something to do,and needs doing)i had no kit, but, would the drive be seen in the post screens no!

i did an hitachi about a week or so ago for someone and they had intel ich5 onboard and bang their 59d showed straight away.

could be a prob here with my pc,i got no option to switch compatable to enhanced or vice versa so i can just have option of sata+ide1.

lucky me i got a partial new build of a new tower and i got an intel ich5 motherboard in there.will do it one day.

thats what you might need to do.you need to have the drive on the master sata port.you need to switch raid to ide or compatable to enhanced or vice versa and you should only have option of sata+ide1.so you need an hdd+cd/dvdrom to boot slaxcd from on ide1.

this is so that the pc when it boots will only skeg your sata and ide1.

might work might not.could be that via is a bit iffy at picking up the hitachi drives when you just use the 360 to power the drive.

good luck!

Finally managed to get the 360 drive into mode b and I can see it in windows but now I am having problems trying to flash it. When I dump the original firmware (using the Maximus toolkit) and perform a checksum on it, it says that the checksum is incorrect. If I open it anyway and start the patcher, it tells me that there are lots of differences and that I may brick the drive if I continue. Thats where I stop!!!!

Any ideas?

Thanks
