The radio show which created the contest to win a Wii in which a participant died has now gone aff air. The contest called 'Wii for a Wii', encouraged those involved to drink as much water as possible and hold off from going to the toilet in order to win the Console. Unfortunately one lady died last Friday as a result of it.

All of you are probably aware of the tragic death of a contestant, Jennifer Strange, following her participation in a contest on the Morning Rave last Friday.

First and foremost, our thoughts and sympathies go out to Jennifer's family and loved ones.

I also want to assure you that the circumstances regarding this matter are being examined as thoroughly as possible. We are doing everything we can to deal with this difficult situation in a manner that is both respectful and responsible. In the interim, the Morning Rave is off the air indefinitely.

No advertiser is going to go near a radio station that kills people.

Its gone off air because of a lack of money, not respect.

Money was lost and a woman died....wow. I think she was worth value. O well never even heard of the radio station but I am not surprised.

Perhaps, but I would argue that it lost respect with the advertisers. It's something like "Crossfire" after Jon Stewart decimated the hosts - the advertisers knew it was a turkey, because they had lost respect.

In this case, I agree - it was a nice idea and a funny idea for a contest, but a 5 minute call to a doctor to see if this was going to cause problems - or at least have a doctor on hand "just in case" - would have saved a person's life. The radio station and manager made a dumb, dumb decision, and all suffer for it.

I don't understand how the contest even worked...
how do they even know you were holding your wee?
you have to bring in soiled pants?
what a stupid contest.

oh lets see, maybe because they fed the contestants gallons of water which was the reason the chick died:rolleyes:
