A gamer has created three visions of success for the Wii and they involved the following - 1) MORE third party support, 2) ONLINE game support, 3) Find something else other than replicating swinging a SWORD.

Although the Wii’s launch lineup was a pinch better than the PS3’s, it wasn’t the best we’ve ever seen. Well, how many launches are spectacular, for that matter? The point is, even though the Wii had an alright launch lineup, how will it do further down the road when the PS3 and Xbox 360 are sweeping up all of the third party publishers? The PS3 may seem a bit shaky right now, but don’t be fooled, as soon as its third party cavalry comes through in about mid-2007, it will be at the top of its game.

umm, I swing a golf club, and tennis racket also...

They need a track and field game, and the system will be complete in my mind.

1) Nintendo has more 3rd party support with the Wii than it did during the GC launch. But more would be good.
2) Of course online is coming, but will it be any good?
3) Wow, how many games have you swing a sword?... 2 maybe? This is a stupid list and none of these things are required for the Wii to be a "success".

1. More third-party support always helps; Right now, though, they're doing pretty well... Much better than w/ the cube, for example...

2. I must agree that this is an important factor... Online games & the needed infrastructure needs to be ready to rock soon, which it will be, and would really benefit RTS, FPS, etc...

3. There are many dozens of more creative approaches than "swinging a sword" already in use... Don't think this one was very well thought through...

god, i soooo hate friend codes. while i would like to give nintendo the benefit of doubt, that they'll do online right. realistically, i'm very doubtful. i'm sure they're gonna stick with the extremely frustrating and cumbersome friend codes for all their games. the new pokemon game in japan has its own set of friend codes, so what's the point of having wii console code then?

Thats because it's basically a nice graphic-frontend for Diamond and Pearl, which are DS Games and need there own friend codes. That won't be the case with any other online games.

I thought the Wii was already a success.

that list is garbage, the wii needs to keep living up to its potential and provide a few games for the brainage/cooking mama market, it has wii sports already which seems to have an incredible field of appeal, but more games like that are needed to keep the non gamer entertained. The do seem to be doing an excellent job already anyway, just make a few more machines to feed the demand eh.
