Hey there!
I was remembering those great time i had with my amiga (it started some 20 yrs ago)...
I found some modules of mine and i just wanted to know if there were some good mod players. Got my hand on milkmod, sounds good but doesn't look, ahum, nice...

now... if we could only get a protracker or fasttracker clone for the psp i could make some crappy hardcore! ive been tempted to get a nintendo ds just for nitrotracker but i dunno...

you lucky one! i sold my amiga to get my first PC... I have a friend who has one he doesn't use. If i find my samples and modules disks, i may borrow it to transfer files, though i have to remember how to transfer from amiga disks to pc disks (forgot the name of PC DOS mounter)...
I think I still have Octamed original disks (yeah, i bought it) anywhere but i'll have to have a look at my parents' (i may find dust instead...)
Not to mention games that fitted on floppy disks :)))
Have a look at PSP Rythm (if not done already). Although a traker would be unusuable on such a portable device.

....i'm about to cry now....

those hardware devices for reading amiga disks in your pc are very expensive even still...

my 600 (1200's too) have a pcmcia slot on them... i use a sandisk compact flash pcmcia adapter w/ a 256mb sandisk cf card... tranfers files easily! :)

you need a driver/loader to read the cf device on the amiga... if you ever get around to it, hit me up and i can send it if you cant find it on the net or aminet ;)

Rhythm uses samples instead of synthesis. There's a real synthesizer (plus sequencer, of course) called PSPSeq.

I've heard about it, but never tried...
I guess it's not that easy to use...
I have Grooveboxes (Roland MC307 & MC309) i'm used to, i think i won't be patient enough to soundtrack on the PSP, but i'll have a try for fun.

hi - i'm the developer of PSPSeq. just wanted to mention a couple things...

1. i've just released version 2.00 of PSPSeq. lots of fun new features in there. you can read about it and get the download location in the news here (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=50622).
2. PSPSeq isn't exactly easy to use, but i think once you get into it it's really fast and quite flexible. there's a user forum on google groups, if you have any questions stop by and there's people there that can help you out.

I wonder if an adf file of Protracker would work on the PSP Amiga emulator PSPUAE?

One of the main reasons I had an Amiga back in the day was for making rave choons with progs like Octamed and Protacker. lol

I'm jealous youve got a groovebox though... All I ever originaly wanted was a 303 to make some acid noises! :)

I've recently been havng fun on PSPUAE with the amiga speech synthesis program... making words in a tourettes style of Steven Hawkins! lol

I think almost all of the old classic mods are available on the net as there are still many tracker groups out there, one or two of the old school tracker authors from old demo groups are still around too.

Another good source for tracker mods is the Acorn Archimedes format as protracker mods were very very popular on it (i wrote several tracker players about 15 years ago on my archie :P). It also had several converters for converting mods from one format to another so most things were available in multiple formats, though not always with *every* single command implemented so some can sound funny. The adf format used by archie floppies can be read by several pc tools and even .adf file floppy rips can be extracted. There are still lots of 'PD' sites for the archie around stuffed with mods.

Ya'll have me thinking now. I guess i'll go find milkmod :D

:p
I'd do almost anything (let's be careful :))) to get a hardware genuine TB303. I don't know all clones (soft or hard) but Roland MC307 & MC909 don't sound as good as the TB303. Even Rebirth sounds better, as far as the bassline is concerned.
By the way, completely off topic but for those who don't know :

Rebirth has been discontinued and therefore has been distributed for a while FREE ;)
