Okay followed the guide through did a floppy method (i know it was not reccomended) everything went through did gave me those expected errors as in the tut but the back ups still dont work. I have tried a back up dvd film on it it seems to work and a back up xbox1 game it seems to say use a hard drive any ideas where i have gone wrong. The game i used works as it worked on other x360 using a ricoh dvd+r.
I still have my original copy of the flash is their anything i should do like try and reflash it same process but with usb stick or can you reflash it.

well, all i can say is that i flashed my Samsung MS25 drive today for the first time with Xtreme 5.2c and I used a floppy disk. the SATA PCI card i used was a VIA 6421a and I used Xtreme Boot Maker. You have to unplug every IDE hard drive and DVD/CD plug from the motherboard when you boot into DOS. I just simply followed the video on Google Video (search for 360 hack) and it was spot on. I have 5 backups working perfectly (one of them being NTSC)

Good luck!

yes use an hdd if it says use one.

also did you flash it with the correct xtreme firmware to allow the backup xbox game to boot.

I put this search into google :-

xbox 360 backward compatibility

The first line that came up said this :-

(requires hard drive)

So the difference between your 360, and the other one where the game worked is most likely going to be a Hard Drive.

Its been a long time since ive seen the error "To play this disc......" but I will try and remember what it is.

The Xbox 360 is playing the video partition of the disc because it is not being read as an proper 360 disc. Put your disc in a PC with DVDVideo software/Stand alone DVD player and you will see the same message.

Do other backups or originals work? If yes, then the disc is a dud. You should redump the original disc and make sure your doing ti right.

Also, the firmware version A/B/C/D all relate to the speed of how the discs are read. Check the readme.txt with the firmware to get the explanation.

Edit: If an original disc doesnt work then you havent flashed your drive correctly.

Well, your samsung is reading the disc as a DVD-Video disc, not a Game disc. You'll need to figure out why, I cant help any further. I've said what I think it is.

Well, if 5.2c isn't for the MS25 drives, I must be very lucky as its working perfectly on my MS25! I initially tried 5.2d but it wasn't working, but i think thats because i didn't unplug the IDE plugs from the PC Motherboard.

All my backups are working beautifully on 5.2c.

It wont be the media i have tried 4 types all of them work in a samsung im just going to have to reflash it back to the original (dont have a clue how to since original is gone) and try again. The answer to the dvd back up discs playing seems to be we had a bad flash. Im screwed as i cant get my original flash again thanx to my p.c as it is currently fooked and got a format.

Please can someone tell me the size of their original ms25 file mines reading 250k bytes. And i am sure its supposed to be 256k. Does the last 6k bytes matter when flashing. It does have many zeros at the bottom, just wondering if they matter.

ps i used a floppy that only had 250 kbytes of space left for the orig.bin file to be saved.

Yup. supposed to be 256 KB.

You could check in a hax editor to see if the drivekey is there. Maybe try something like KDX if your not sure how to view the file in hex.

Once you get you drivekey (either from this file, or a dump of the working firmware back off the 360) you will be set to just try and reflash your drive. There isnt really a need to restore back to original firmware before flashing again for the Samsung.

Yep, 5.2c is what worked perfectly for my ms25 drive as i previously stated and i'm glad it works for you now. I alwys use Verbatim Discs for backups and they all work.

@tpepsiman

yes use the 51c you dont have to worry going back to your original flash. Try the pendrive method i had problems because never knew i had to stick the drive in before my daft bios detects it.
