how to know FAKE or not???

Its damn slow ... 1.4 GB for 35 minets :O :confused:

definitely fake then mate - i have a genuine and it takes around 5mins. My mate has a cheap fake off ebay, and his takes about as long as yours.

I get i too from ebay :( ... DAMN for $80 .. and can buy genuine for $100 in my country :D LOL thanx!

Simply go to the memory stick icon in PHOTO, or VIDEO for example
Then press TRIANGLE > Information and next to Magic Gate tm : if it is written "UNKNOWN" so it's a fake !

Just to make sure, highlight any 'Memory Stick' option in the XMB, press triangle and select 'information'.

If it says MagicGate compatible it is 'genuine'.

My Sony MS Duo 2GB stick says 'Unknown' under information. I've looked through the guides, opened it up and everything. No stamped writing, no cheap chipset, and it runs at the normal transfer rate. I'm positive it's genuine.

So why no Magicgate?

Just get a sandisk, there faster then Sony sticks(atleast they were a year back don't know about now) and don't get it from ebay. I don't thrust anything on ebay :D

Make sure you are actually connected to USB via a 2.0 port; 1.0 can slow things down to a crawl.

I have Usb 1.0 It's very slow.

ok With USB 2.0 its mutch faster 1.5GB takes 12mins
but its a little bit slow in XMB too much blinking and first shows "-" MB of free spase and then after ~5sec show it up!

Yeah, my brothers Sony 2GB makes the PSP startup slowly (I think that's normal anyway) it's just a small thing that you shouldn't really worry yourself to much about.

I reported this to the guy I bought from, he said that I shall send him the memstick back and If I'm right I would get my money back :).

Yeah he has a 100% positive rating at eBay.. He said that he has original sandisk memsticks.. now he's a bit confused :p

i have a 2GB that i know is fake but 3 guys in a sony store said it was geniune and when i do tests it performs 20% faster than a geniune one but when you open it up its clearly a fake so with ebay its kind of hit and miss

DAMN .. Ok i have try to make cso from midnight club 3 1540MB to 990MB ... and it runs muchmuchmuch better :( damn WTF?
