can someone pls explain how to use the savegame backup-tool?
i cant get it to work.
i startet ctr-gcs.exe with the prompt ctr-gcs a -l
and dragged the dol file (already configured to the proper ip) onto the psul.exe
psul connects with the gc but on the tv screen i get the message that ctr-gcs is not connected and on the dos prompt screen it still waits to connect

i had the exact same prob. what u need to do is, load the dol with psul and then run ctr-gcs as u need it after that. it will connect then disconnect when its done. this had me fooled 4 a while as well. if u have 2 cmd lines open in windows, run psul in 1 and then use ctr-gcs in the other AFTER the dol has loaded and it says its not connected. this way it won't b waiting to connect and the dol will b loaded. hope this helps

Mines keeps on saying "Could not open gcs.cfg for reading." This happens when I change the ctr-gcs.cfg file with the correct ip numbers and then try to change the dol with the command "ctr-gcs -c"

Any help is very much appreciated, thanks.

I found it did not like directory paths with spaces... I stick it in C:/ and it worked fine.

i've tried everything i can think of and i still can't get mine to connect to the GC...

the exe just sits at waiting to connect.

the dol says "Not connected", unless i press b after a connect attempt then it flashes what looks like "Connected"...

i've updated the config file and the dol itself multiple times, i even compared files to make sure the ips were getting changed...

nothing suggested here works for me... anyone else have another idea?

Dispite saying 'Waiting to Connect', it's actually doing nothing of the sort.

Just try the commands once the app is loaded on your GC and it should work fine. A little missleading I know...

i've tried it both ways... with the exe running before and after the dol...

out of curiousity what ip settings are you guys using?

192.168.0.100 for my gc
192.168.0.3 for my pc

same as i use for pso...

GC - 192.168.1.32
PC - 192.168.1.100

Just like the loader specifies.

ok i got it now... there was a newer version addressing my problem on the dextrose website :)

and those settings were only required for the earlier versions of the ACL afaik

1.u have to get "ctr-gcs10a.zip" and "psoload2.zip or higher".
(i like psoloader than psul)

2.Extract each files. and open "ctr-gcs.cfg" as text.

3.Modify "pcip" and "gcip" to your environment.

4.plz type "ctr-gcs -c" at CommandPrompt.

5.copy ctr-gcs.dol to psoload directory.

6.Run psoload with ctd-gcs.dol.

7.Boot GC with PSO, and connect to PC.

8.If connect succeed, Open Another CommandPrompt.

9.then type "ctr-gcs a -l" at CommandPrompt.:p

if you types only "ctr-gcs", youll get gcr-gcs command line help

exsamples:)
Backup Savegames to PC from Slot A
Z:\GC>ctr-gcs a -b1 pso_system.gci
Restore Savegames to SlotB from PC
Z:\GC>ctr-gcs b -r pso_system.gci

Thanks acolyte2002 very much! :)

In the following 2 points I did differently from what you said.
> 6.Run psoload with ctd-gcs.dol.
> 8.If connect succeed, Open Another CommandPrompt.

So stupid I even forgot to try PSOLoader2, and maybe I had tried typing "ctr-gcs a -l" in another dos command windows..........
I will try again as soon as I could get home. Thank you very much. :)

Yes,thanks to both of you,I got it working on my first attempt at even messing with it,well after about 3 or 4 trys and reading Acolytes post a few times and the .txt file that came with the program. Althoug the TV screen still says "Not Coneccted" when you acutally are. I havent tried loading any of saves though back to the mem card. I am going to buy a new mem card to use for that pourpose in case I screw something up,I dont want to lose any of the saves on my mem cards. Now,does anyone know of any way of altering the .sav files on your PC (i.e. adding more health, lives etc) and then loading back to your mem card?

Finally get the GCS worked. So great to be able to backup all my save.
And stupid me caz it seems that I had made bad ctr-gcs.dol, though I dont think so........
After re-make that dol, GCS works perfectly.
BTW, both psul and PSOLoader v2a work properly.
And once psul/PSOLoader uploads the dol file, no matter in the same dos-command-window or one else, u can list/backup/upload to ur memcard. :)

Thanks acolyte2002 again, ur post made me doubt that dol file..... :D

it is the inevitable that your tv says "Not Connected".
"Not Connected" means hGC's states is idleh.
u can see "Connected" while transfering savegames data at a moment.

if u uses third-party memcard, it is better to buy official memcard

No,even when its streaming, the TV screen says "Not Connected" its no big deal,I can look at my PC and see that its working! :)

My bust acolyte2002 youre probably right about that, necause it happens so quick, probably didnt notice,I know that is in idle mode when it says "not connected" Also,I guess I would have to restore back to the same memcard I copied it from? You cant transfer them onto a different mem card?

Also, anyone know how to get past the Nintendo logo when loading Luigis Mansion. Like the -d -f settings,I have tried different ones I have seen in this forum, but nothing seems to work and I have been using Phoenix and all the different options in that program?

Personally, for Luigi's Mansion, I just have "0" value for all the settings. This seems to work for all my games. I have a PIII 1.2Ghz, 380megs SD ram. (not too fast). I've never had a problem loading a game yet (except the ones that are tested as "not working") Hope this helps.

Thats strange,I have tried that also, all using Phoenix 1.61
with Starcube 1.3 and 1.4 and I dont know if I tried Paradox and I know I tried using the Cubesoft+Starcube (I hope I am getting these names right) and used PSUL and PSO load options and everytime it gets to the Nintendo logo when you hear a deep voice say "Nintendo" and thats it. I have gotten Zelda WW to work and Mario Kart DD. I am running a Athlon 800 Mhz and 256 mb of Ram a but I dont think any of this has to do with the streaming to the cube.
Although I have been wanting to change my processor and I think there is a AMD that I can use that will go up to 1 Ghz but maye building a machine with a P3 just for this purpose might not be a bad idea either,it could very well be that these homebrew apps work better using a Pentium Processor vs AMD. I think maybe now I have another computer project for me to work on in my spare time
;)
