With the awesome release of the PopStation, this got me thinking as to whether or not it would be possible to create a "playstation disc" file that had an N64 emulator & games onto it?

It would be awesome..

Ummm indeed..

For tonight your assignment is to write me a 5,000 word essay describing the various differences between a cartridge and a compact disc. Be sure to include references, and sources. Don't forget the extra credit portion where you can gain extra points for describing the differences between The Software development kit for a N64 and the software development kit for a PSX.

You should find an N 64 emulator cd that alredy run on psx.

Example. For Ps2 exist Snes emulator,a cd rom contenet emulator with incluse rom.

If you have N64 emulator on Psx, create iso file and convert con popstation.

I think than don't exist.

Yeah for that the PS1 should be able to EMULATE a N64, which it clearly cannot.

I think he meant NES, not N64. :D I've seen PSX CDs floating around with a PSX NES emu and several hundred games, I just never bothered since I use my PC for NES emulation. Besides, there's already an NES emu for the PSP, so you don't need to emulate a PSX emulating a NES on the PSP. ;)

Yeah, kind of misses the point

I mean, why bother to add TWO layers of emulation when you can have only one? As good as a PS1 emulator can be and as bad as a N64 one could be bad (which is not our case), a direct emulator would ALWAYS be faster (unless both the PS1 on PSP and the N64 on PS1 emulators were extraordinarily powerful--an unreal scenario).

Even Sega and Nes emulators running under Popstation suffer from alot of slowness so what makes you think N64 would even be possible. The only way we will be able to get near full speed N64 on the Psp is from one coded completely from the ground up with an efficient dynarec. I don't know enough about JIT to know whether that method would work but you get the idea.

Actually, Daedalus R8 runs N64 stuff pretty good on my PSP. I get somewhere between 15 and 50 FPS with Super Mario 64, depending on the complexity of the scene. I was rather surprised at how well it works.

Go here (http://psp-homebrew.eu/hbname.php?id=589) and download the R8 version and the Spiff Up v1.3. You should then be good to play N64 on your PSP.
