View Full Version : Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PAL) PSX - not working?

I've just converted my copy of Street Fighter Alpha 3 (PAL) for PSX to an ISO using MagicISO, then to an EBOOT.PBP file using Popstation. I used the EBOOT.PBP (reanmed to BASE.PBP) and KEYS.BIN from Hot Shots Golf 2 with Popstation as instructed.
Anyways, I transferred my new EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN from HSG2 to my PSP in a 'SFA3' directory in 'G:\PSP\GAME' (as I have with numerous other sucessful PSX games) and attempted to load it up.
It gives me that PSX emulator disclaimer screen thingy (black with white text), and then fades... and that's it... I would expect it to go the the Playstation Logo and into the game, but nothing happens. I am able to hit the Home button to bring up the emulator menu, but that's it.
This thread (http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=40526) suggests the NTSC version works..?
Can anyone offer some assistance please? Is this game of mine simply not compatible?? or is there something I have missed?
Many thanks,
MrQuan

Pal games hardly work, if work at all, remember the PS3 is only available in the US and Japan so the Pops emu isn't really configured for Europe. Your better off finding an NTSC version to convert, or better still why don't you just find the psp game Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max which is far better in the fact more characters ect.

Ahh, I thought it had something to do with PAL. Thanks. Good call on SFA3 Max, I was just hoping to recycle some of my PSOne games - but they are all PAL - oh well
Many thanks

No problem :) I have a lot of PAL games as well but NTSC games are easy to pick up from certain torrent sites :) Yeah def get Street Fighter Alpha 3 Max, the ISO is only about 100mb and probably my fav SF game, well that and SF3 Third Strike but you can't play that on the psp.

pal games work fine, but don't use magiciso!! Use clonecd settings on alcohol120% (and playstation settings)
then use the GUI to convert to eboot, it has pal->ntsc conversion built in (check the firmware subforum)

as i said in the post above, pal games work fine, only they have graphical errors and screen displacement which can be fixed by converting them to NTSC

Pal games work fine, only the have graphical errors and screen displacement ? Isn't that a contradiction in terms lol and no the pal to ntsc doesn't fix all the problems.

If I may ask, why bother? Just get Alpha 3 Max.
