So what exactly happens with the psx emulator and multidisk games such as the FF series?

Well... Most of the Multidisc Games let you save before you switch Discs... so just save... exit... and load the next Disc and load the Savegame... :)

You can beat Mantis without swapping controllers, its hard but is possible and If I remember right the disc2 of metal gear loads the snow field before entering the silo therefore before the part where it asks for disc 2

just an idea, but couldnt u combine the files from disc 1 and disc2 to make a dvd image and then convert that usaing ultraiso.
e.g. open disc1 in ultra ... extract contents of disc two to pc... add extracted files to disc1. save and popstation full image
trying to combine all 3 cds of ff7 into 1 iso.. except itll take me a while to go thru the game to see if it works.. =/

even if you combine multiple discs into one iso, the game would still need you to swap for the next disc in sequence. It's the program.
I know metal gear needs you to swap, so that's a no go.
I heard in another thread that Chrono Cross needs you to swap also (what a shame)
FFVII allows you to save right as it ask you to swap, so that will be fine.
Anybody knows about any other multi disc game?
(I can't shake the feeling that all that we are talking about with PSX has been discussed years before as the psx scene took off)

So how does FFVII work? You have an EBOOT.PBP and when you're done with, say, disc 1, you copy the next disc across and rename it EBOOT.PBP? Otherwise how do you know which Hot Shots 2 to load? :D

From what I can remember FF games allow you to save before changing discs, Chrono Cross just says insert disc 2 with no save option.

Kill sniper wolf save your game, exit load up disk2's eboot then continue to play that are is on both disk 1 and disk two but only after you have killed her.

PARASITE EVE
PARASITE EVE II
they are on two discs but they will work because it saves before you switch

Can anyone confirm if you can get to the second disc of Chrono Cross? Id rather wait till its sorted before investing a heap of hours and have to start again...

Im sure PARASITE EVE let you save before switch,
but I don't think PARASITE EVE2 let you save before switch.
If I was remember right, Aya was at train station
and disc switch suddenly comes up without a save.
(I played this game more then 3 years ago, so i don't remember well though)
hmm those 2 games werent in compatibility list.
they may not work?
