PS3 Shortages could continue long into 2007

Cnet report that shortages of the PS3 and Wii may not ease up until June and March respectively. Sony may be in the worst case scenario, with demand still high across most regions and the need to take care of a European launch for the system.



American Technology Research analyst Paul-Jon McNealy said that since Sony shipment numbers include units in transit or in warehouses, the company's target of 1 million could translate to 600,000 to 800,000 units at retail by year end.

McNealy said investors and game makers tempered their forecasts for the PS3s since initial numbers fell short. He added that the PS3 will likely remain scarce through the June quarter.

"They have to launch in Europe, and they're stretched," said McNealy.

I can walk into walmart and find PS3s but no wiis.

There have been several places reported where it is pretty easy to find a PS3 (on several other forums)

One of my friends who works at futureshop, has had people come in to return their PS3s because they can't sell them on ebay *shrugs*

i don't believe the ps3 shortages for a second. I've been into 10 stores in the past 3 days looking for a nintendo wiimote, and i've seen at least twenty 60gb ps3's on the shelves...

Same here, there's actually about 3 ps3s at my local store, and *no* Wiis, just a big line of people waiting for a Wii shipment at the local walmart, a few nights ago... :D

i have seen around 10 PS3's over the last couple days, and they have all just been sitting at the stores not selling according to the employees. one store has had three fro two to three weeks.

i have been to 3 gamstops and 1 eb games and it ranges from 4 to 6 ps3s and cannot find another Wii for my sister(19yo). And yeah they are everywhere but not selling. $600.00 dollars is a lot of money for a game amchinf. Got her a computer bundle instead.
