A look at Craigslist reveasl that many Americans are willing to trade their PS3 in order to get their hands on a Nintendo Wii! In San Francisco, there is as many as 48 of these requests going on. However, some of them do request a cash difference to be supplied.

There are people out there trying to trade their PS3s for Nintendo Wiis and some of them are offering to take a loss. In order to check out exactly how widespread this phenomenon is, I had to venture into the dangerous, uncharted waters of craigslist.org and start doing a little searching of my own.

We decided upon looking in some of the hottest cities on craigslist: Austin, New York and San Francisco. In my search of Austin, I only turned up 6 total people who wanted to trade their PS3 for a Wii, so I moved on to New York City, which boasted a pretty substantial 18 desired trades. Here’s where it gets crazy: in San Francisco, there are 48 different PS3 for Wii trades going on at this moment. Now, keep in mind, most of these trades are requesting a Wii plus cash difference, but there is the occasional barter that will take a loss just to get their hands on the latest Nintendo console.

Actually it's because there are over 50 of those on that site, and I keep hearing of more and more people trying to get rid of PS3's for Wii. Also, go onto Ebay and there are PS3's that have multiple accessories and sell for barely above the retail price of just the system, while Wii's are making over 170% over retail value.

PS3:
60GB System, Game and Controller = $660 (Retail-$700)
http://cgi.ebay.com/NIB-Sony-PlayStation-3-Game-console-PS3-Bundle-XMAS_W0QQitemZ190065217292QQihZ009QQcategoryZ62054 QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item190065217292

60GB System = $455 (Retail $600)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-PlayStation-3-PS3-60g-NEW-SEALED-w-RECEIPT_W0QQitemZ230067854816QQihZ013QQcategoryZ62 054QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item230067854816

20GB, Game, 2 Controllers = $580 (Retail $640)
and many more that make it just over retail for about $600-630.

Wii:
Console $405 (Retail $250)
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Sealed-Nintendo-Wii-w-Wii-Sports_W0QQitemZ170063512475QQihZ007QQcategoryZ620 54QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item170063512475

Console $405 (Retail $250)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Playstation-3-Console-GAMES-FREE-Wii-BUNDLE-Ps3-NR_W0QQitemZ260068177947QQihZ016QQcategoryZ62054QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260068177947

Console, Controller, Nunchuk, Classic Remote, 5 Games = $685 (Retail $580)
http://cgi.ebay.com/Nintendo-Wii-Console-Bundle-Receipt-ZELDA-10-Games-NR_W0QQitemZ260068178400QQihZ016QQcategoryZ62054QQ rdZ1QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item260068178400

I think that speaks more then anything on what system is more popular and in higher demand. The more over retail people are willing to pay, the more they want it.

You have this thing for sale since the dawn of time. Either you have no sales talent at all, or you don't have a Wii (or don't really want to sell it). So you are just showing off.

PS3 is overpriced and overhyped. just the little i have visited stores lately, and i have seen PS3's available at every single one. and in matter of two weeks one of the stores had for, and still has three of them. they only sold 1 in a two week period. that is not a good sign. the PS3 maybe more powerful than the Wii, but it has no good games, not even resistence seems that great, and motorstorm seems alright, but not any better really than any other game in its genre.

the Wii offers fun from day one. and regardless of what alot of people say it has more than one solid game. rayman, CoD3 is said to be funner than the 360 version, Elebits is original, Madden is the funnest football game i have played in a long time, tony hawk downhill jam was fun and had alot of content, and was a great starting point for a new franchise, dragon ball z for Wii was fun and had upgraded graphics over the last gen versions. plus trauma center is supposed to be better than the ds version, though i haven't played that one, and i played excite truck at a game store and it seemed really fun, not sure how much content it has, but it seems like it could be very addictive. i think the Wii launch is better than any console launch in recent memory, and the Wii right now has way more to do on it than the PS3. i don't know how it will play out but unless the PS3 retains its remaining exclusives the PS3 will have to drop its price signigicanly or keep the exclusives if it wants to win. the 360 is starting to gain the edge, along with the Wii for there different reasons.

from what ive seen both suck, wii has good hype thats all, those kids who dont get zelda with it this chrimbo i suspect will be very dissapointed. 360 is getting alot of decent bundle deals at moment and to me looks by far the best option.

i own none but currently only 360 at all tempts me it has exclusives top rank games are starting to appear and it already has a decent fan base, wii i believe i would be bored with after playing zelda (gamecube game) and its practically the same price as the 360 bundles once u add controllers and games. ps3 will be extremly expensive once it finally reaches the uk, the games are average at most and the only turn on, backwards compatibilty is not enough.

of the last gen consoles i only owned a gcube (and dreamcast, dreamcast 2 anyone?) which was average so not a fan boy of any of these companys this is my untainted view of the 3. i hate to see such a big company such as microsoft take over the market but so far they seem to be the only ones going in the right direction.

the Wii has alot of fun games right now, plus the backwards compatability factor with the GC and the Virtual console, which is getting games from the nes, snes, sega genesis, and the turbo graphix games. Rayman is fun, Madden was really fun, most fun i have had in a long time with a football game, CoD 3 is supposed to be funner on Wii at the hits of a loss of graphics quality. alot of supposed hardcore gamers bash the Wii, but those same people are graphic wores that don't care about much of anything else. the Wii is very fun, and cheaper and also comes with a game. plus square-enix is started to give exclusives to the Wii as well as alot of other companies. the Wii not being able to do what the 360 and PS3 do graphics wise is kinda cool in my opinion because i think it will lead to more exclusives because for the time it takes to make to down grade the graphics they might as well work on a new game from the ground up.

? you mean that americans prefer fun over being nothing but graphics whores? or affordablity over being ripped off for a console that has absolutely no games or anything?

So anyone who doesn't share your exact interest in consoles is stupid. Would you care to back that up, or are you satisfied with just being a brain-dead fanboy?

Ah, the heck with it. Anyone who can't accept differing opinions as being valid for the individual is too stupid to communicate with anyways. And the ignore list gets another.

You realize that there are people in most countries doing the same thing. Picking up a Wii opposed to the PS3. So I guess the whole world except for you and about 499,999 other people are retarded?

the thing is people are picking these consoles up purely from media hype. none of them who have bought them in the uk have played on it even.

so you cant say people prefer fun when they dont know if it will be fun.

im not a graphics whore, gameplay all the way but wii's graphics however much i look at them just look lazy to me. although it really is quite small after seeing one in GAME which ill point out in nintendos favor.

Can you prove this?

I have a 360 with over 2 dozen games and since getting a Wii a month ago I havent touched my 360. I won't be getting a PS3 anytime soon since nothing on the system interests me, and most likely any game that will, will probably be on the 360 as well.

Zelda is phenominal, between the controls and the story the game is a masterpiece. Rayman is tons of fun, I just picked up Trauma Center and it's pretty interesting, and gets hard quick which is nice having a bit of a challange. Super Swing Golf is also a great game if you like Hotshot Golf type games.

Like I posted in another thread, a guy I work with spent $2300 on a PS3 expecting to flip it on ebay and is trying to sell it now for $650 and no one wants it.

The problem with the Wii is the damn composite cables they come with. Zelda looked great on my g/f's SDTV but muddy on my HDTV till I got the component cables. Now it looks damn good actually.
