All of my games, burned on DVD-R, TEON 8x (burned at 4x), work great. But on games that have long cut movies, it will almost always freeze. Metriod Prime 2, Mario Sunshine, Starfox. But games that only load periodically, RE:4, Zelda Four Swords, Mario Party, work great.

My laser was originally set up in the 500s and nothing was working. Set it to 184 and it worked great, recently set it down to 171 to try and fix the DRE, but no luck.

Should I go below 170? Go up to 240 (seemed to work for some people)? burn slower? Get better media?

unfortuantly it's mainly about just testing as many things as you can and getting your own results.

the GC seems to be the most volitile console i've delt with. I've never had a xbox but i've owned a lot of consoles (if that helps, lol) and i've never found one that variates as much as this.

getting games to play perfectly does involve a good test of media, ISO's and possibly a laser tweak. I havn't tweaked my laser myself and on full sized discs all my games work, however on 8cm some don't. the bios can also be troublesome so it's definatly worth trying 0.3 or 0.4 (whichever u don't have) . If you don't want to waste a DVDr on the bios make sure it's not finalised and u can just keep adding files on to it (apparently, i've not actually done this, but it's not hard to find out and then close it if necessary) .

as for DRe's on long movies, I don't have this problem myself but i'd recommend waiting for the new bios, it should help all of us a lot. From the delay we're looking at now it could (only in my opinion) be version 1...but we'll have to wait and see. If it is i'm sure it will fix yours and many other people's problems.:)

Sounds good. I think i'll try 0.3 and see if it works anybetter. But it definitely seems like a media or ISO issue. I'll try burning one of the games to a DVD-RW and see what happens.

Thanks a lot.

I reckon it's media. When I tested out some memorex mini's with crappy CMC dye , they worked fine except on movies. Same games on full size ritek g04 worked great.

Using mini g04 now and they work great aswell :).

They (and others) don't appear to have any in stock...Anyone tried the Datawrite Red (ADVDINFO: VDSPMSAB 01) available at blankdiscshop.co.uk?

Not tried the red on gamecube myself , but have tried the fullsize red one's in the past and found them to be crap.

Might be a stupid question and proberly a case of me not reading properly ,but how do you know they are out of stock on digital promo. I just checked and see no idicator to say there not in stock and you can still click the buy button.

The full size red and min red are totally different discs, by all accounts they are both **** and always have been, they have always used cheap dye.

Why would anyone want to buy mini reds when they could have mini Ritek for the same price. the Ritek even coming in a mini jewel case?????

Datawrite reds are 87p each , riteks are 91p each. Guess they must need that 4p saving for something ;)

i use datawrite RED minis as these were the first type of disk i bought and worked straight away, why would i risk buying another sort? and i didnt even have to **** around with the voltage to the laser
answer me that?

Because Ritek are better discs, this has been proven over the years, and they will last longer than the datasafe

I have this same issue with Skies of Arcadia. After the first cutscene the game freezes. Not sure if it is a media issue or if it is something else. Has anyone gotten Skies of arcadida to work?
