Hi folks,

when I want to get a connection between the Cube and PC, I sometimes need to try it 4-5 times until the connection is established.

But once I get connected, everything works perfect.

Does anyone have the same problems?
Or do you have an idea why it is like this?

thx,
cubeman

I think one of the main problems most people run into is for the fact that they're using PCI based Ethernet add-on cards. The fact that transfering/data has to pass through the PCI Bus first and vice-versa..... Some people have reported better success using their onboard ethernet interfaces.

Also I'd guess a better or more up to date computer system(good motherboard with a good chipset with bandwidth to spare) makes the connection work better.

That's the biggest load of bull I have ever seen. There is nothing wrong with PCI based ethernet cards. Everyone I know uses them and none of us have problems. It's about having the right equipment and NON-BROKEN equipment. Check it on another PC and it will most likely work. Get good equipment!

Do you have any idea how many "layers" are involved? Nearly ALL are software. The standard seven-layer model has multipl sub-layers, all of which further dissassociate TCP/IP from hardware. Even if UDP is used for the transfers, you've got a protocol that's totally 100% abstract from hardware just like the physical card's hardware is totally abstract to the PC interface (That's why a 11mbit USB1.1 bus can support a 100mbit buffered USB network card).
