Since this is the development thread, I thought I'd post this here. I had an idea that would be sweet to see someone do. Take apart a broadband or modem adapter and solder they're chip into that. I noticed all but one of the solder points are on the modem/broadband connector so whouldn't soldering them into the adapter to plug in and use work too? Then you could possibly have the parallel cable coming out the end or something. Heck, even possibly a USB adapter so all you do is pop it in, plug the USB cable in, and program it!

you have to open the GC anyways... and the 3 points you would gain are incredibly easy. The cost of manufactering nintendos proprietary connector is very high, the cost of making the plastic casing that fits properly... the cost of a usb controller , the cost of.... and .... etc etc
its 3 incredibly easy points and you still need to open the console to get the last one... whats the point

everybody wants things handed to them on a platter. the fact of the matter is, if ur not suitable for soldering the 4 points of the viper, ur in the wrong scene. ive done the magic chip for the ps2, and pretty much every chip for the xbox from the x2 to the enigmahx. soldering is more then a skill, its pretty much a necessity. the cubes points are so easy that making it a no solder would probably make the mod harder. and if u thought the viper costs alot now, imagine the price after redesigning it.

your just hoping for a DMS EZ GC arn't you?
it could happen but i highly doubt it, the PSP and DS will be the focus of most people attention becuase they are harder and newer, the GC may only ever have the viper and tmbincs homebrew mod.

end of the day, if theres enough profit in it, someone will do it.
the easier the chip is to instal, the more chips they will sell, so if there was a viable way of doing this (in my opinion there isnt) then they would make / marrket it)
personally i just dont think theres enough in this scene just yet for any company to commit the vast amount of money / resources etc, into marketing fancy add-ons / gadgets for the gamecube scene,
and yes, to mould a bit of plastic etc, you might thinks its cheap etc, let me tell you it isnt.
thats why theres no replacement lids yet

I think a lot of people misunderstood me. I did not mean that I was uncomfortable with soldering my gcn, I simply made an observation, and thought it would be cool if a company took advantage of that. If I mess up my cube, I can always do it hrtlnd's way, buy one from wal-mart, swap out the organs, and take it back and ask for cash. Yeah, you'd be going from a 001 to a 101, but there's not a big problem with 101. It's all got to do with cobra updating they're bios. I wasn't saying I want a solderless viper, I was simply making an observation.
