What am I doing wrong? Can't get anything to run!

First off, i'll start by stating that I have a TA-082 2.71 PSP. I've been using HEN-C and DevHook 0.46 without issues for quite some time now.

Over the last few days, i've been trying to run HEN-D and DevHook 0.50. I tried 0.50 with my old HEN-C and the PSP would lag and turn itself off when I tried to run it. I've tried a bunch of combinations of HEN-C and HEN-D with DH 0.46 and 0.50 (as well as other apps) but I can't get anything to run! My PSP either lags when I try to run an app., or I get the "game could not be started" error.

Am I doing something wrong? Does anyone have any idea why my PSP is doing this? I've tried everything, including running HENC with DH0.46, which used to work fine, but now that doesn't even run!

Any and all help would be much appreciated!

you could try reinstalling 2.71 with the generic downgrader, to comppletly remove hen from flash and reinstall hen, that might help

Thanks! Didn't know I can downgrade with the TA-082. I'll look around for that downgrader and report back if it works :)

this is the one you need, get the oficial 2.71 update and rename the eboot to update.pbp and put it in the update folder and run hen c or later and start the game and it will reinstall 2.71

Hey i've reinstalled the original 2.71 FW. I then installed HEN-D, screen turned blue then green (successful) and the PSP restarted. I then installed DH 0.50 and got "The game could not be started. (80120005)" when I tried to run it. I overwrote the 0.50 files with the ones from HEN-D, as i'm supposed to. I tried DH 0.46 afterwards and got the same error message. I'm not sure what i'm doing wrong. Any ideas? =\

i think u need devhook ported to fw 2.71 (its a devhook that use the 2.71 kernel mode and only works on 2.71 psp), devhook 0.50 uses 1.50 kernel mode and it can only be loaded on a 1.50 or 2.71-SE psp (as SE uses the 1.50 bootstrap and kernel mode...so in your case u cant load devhook 0.50 because its not written in 2.71 kernel/user mode. If D_A can port it to HenD then u can but i doubt it, because he quit the scene

I understand now, but I can't get anything to run. Everything is giving me the "This game can not be started" error message :( Even 0.46.

the original devhook 0.46 doesnt work too on a 2.71 psp, as it is written also in 1.50 kernel mode...when u downloaded HenD for 2.71, did u used the devhook that came with it??...that devhook is programmed specially for HenC-D or try the Devhook launcher port to 2.71 (now with support of 2.71 flash) that is on the same site too..then let me know if its work..my friend has a 2.71 psp too with TA-082 mb..and i installed HenD and devhook launcher port for it, and worked fine, i loaded GTA VCS with it

Thanks Dany! 0.46 for 2.71 works great! Only thing is I can't play the new games which require higher firmware. Is there a way around this other than waiting for individual game patches?

most new games should work with devhook 0.46 for 2.71 too..even ones with 2.8x firmware updates...because even if they have a 2.8x updates on it, that doesnt mean they really need 2.8x in order to run it...some games still use 2.7/2.71 prx so they will run fine with devhook 0.46/2.71 SE..So games like GTA VCS, Luxor, new Star Wars game and many more should work fine with your setting..just make sure in devhook, u change the sfo info to 2.xx -> 2.00
so u will not get the update to a higher firmware message when u try to load a 2.8x game..the update will be still there (unless u remove it) but this option will not give u this message...try GTA:VCS, the game requires 2.8 or 2.81`..if it loads, then u can load newer games (until games require really a higher firmware) ;)

Thanks! I changed that setting but for some reason when I try to run "Who Wants To Be A Millionaire" my screen turns black and the PSP powers off. I'll try Luxor or something to see if it has to do with 2.8x

EDIT: For some reason it hangs and turns off when I tried to load Luxor as well. It was working the other night =\

Just tried an older game that doesn't require higher FW and it still hung/turned off. :(

maybe u need to change the preload adress in devhook..to do so, load devhook, go to the other option (from the main menu of course) and choose preload adress...i think adress 0x89000000 or 0x89200000 should work fine, if not try the others....i use the first one on my original devhook 0.46 and its working fine with most games that dont work on SE-C..also make sure the cpu clock is set to 222mhz, as devhook cannot boot the game directly on 333mhz, it will freeze the psp at the gameboot screen...good luck

ok then maybe in firmware, u must choose 2.71F (as in flash/nand)..because u r on 2.71 already, so u dont need to emulate any other firmwares (specially lower fw)..so make sure also that in the firmware option of devhook, its set to 2.71F (first one from top)..the boot select is set to return to XMB or XMB boot (something like that) and umd mount is set to iso any umd (so it will load the iso and not the umd)..then try again..all it does this setting, is it will return back to the 2.71F XMB, and load the iso with any umd in the drive (well..game or demo umd, not music and video)..make sure u have a umd in the drive too..then go to game and under the umd icon u should have the iso mounted instead of the actual umd u have in the drive..then simply press X on it and it will boot ;)

Thank you sir! I just experimented with a bunch of different DH versions. I installed DH 0.4X for 2.71 with flash and then copied files from 0.46 hybrid over and it loaded an older ISO but not a newer one. Also, when it returned to the XMB, my wallpaper was different.

I then reinstalled DH for 2.71 with flash and it seems to be working now. Just loaded Who Wants To Be A Millionaire! I REALLY appreciate all your help. Hopefully it continues to work, lol.

yep, now the only thing u need to change in devhook is the game u wanna boot, leaving the other option as they r...anyway, they r already saved in the devhook.ini file..so u dont need to change it everytime.. :D
