Nintendo are not giving up on the GBA yet, with an executive stating there is still one good holiday season left in the handheld gaming device.

In fact, Fils-Aime says, the GBA is still essential to Nintendo's plan as a "gateway console."

"For us, it continues to be a great stepping stone for five-, six-, seven-year old consumers to have their first great handheld gaming experience and then transition right into DS," Fils-Aime told Reuters.

Actually I almost bought one because I didn't want to spend 129.00 on my little sister. I know she wants a DS but she would probably be happy with the GBA and it's cheaper.

There's definately some life left in it, at least for this last Christmas season; I know someone who's still buying GBA titles for her two kids, and intends to buy them DS's after Christmas, for example (She already has one herself)... Likely after this year, the titles will trickle off, as people start to get into DS (which can, of course, play all the GBA titles)...

there really are not that many good gba games, and really the only ones left coming out are cartoon/movie games. gba already has too many of those.

i agree techno, atleast in the west this is painfully true, but japan has just had final fantasy 6, tengoku rhythm thingie (warioware team) and mother 3. Im sure theres the odd decent game due, your right tho, 90% of the releases we see are terrible cartoon games, i feel this is where the market has lead the GBA now, for very young gamers who play any cartoon based trash. My niece plays power rangers and spiderman on his all the time and he is 4. There must be a hell of a lot of americans buying them still so i guess its been marketed well.

It does seem to be all western games that are the crappy cartoon titles tho, its probably still got a credable market in the east.
