Xbox 360 Outsells PS3 and Wii? MS Think So!

An MSN article doesn't throw any concrete numbers out but claims the Xbox 360 was the hottest selling console of last weekend!



"Retailers had a great four-day run and pretty much everything is gone. Sony dropped the ball and Nintendo didn't do that much better," MSN quotes one Canadian retailer as saying. "They over-promised and under delivered in terms of the quantity of Wii systems that were available. Sony on the other hand warned everyone that supplies would be severely limited. Microsoft was the big winner. They had lots of systems and they had them priced right with game bundles that gamers were interested in."

It'll be interesting to see if the reality lives up to the hype. Considering how rarely that happens though, don't hold your breath.

They bought the 360 because the other two weren't there. Kinda sad actually.

I noticed at my local best buy salesmen were pushing the 360 claiming they wouldn't receive anymore PS3s or Wiis until after December. A flat out lie and it didn't look anyone was buying it.....but it has been interesting to see how many retailers are REALLY pushing the 360 down your throat here in Canada.
Everywhere I go the salesmen are really pushing it.....wonder why?

Really? Did you sit there the whole day and watch nobody buy it? I'm sure it happened more than most fanboys would like to admit, not saying you're a fanboy. I'm all about the three companies succeding here, but it would make sense that people would buy the 360 if the other consoles weren't there. Hopefully they post some official numbers soon.

i highly doubt it. obviously sales picked up cause its the holiday season and all sales pick up. but when i got my wii there was a ton of 360s sitting there, and even after black friday the stacks were not much smaller. yet the same day there were no ps2s, ds or psps.

unless xbox360 sold more than 400k units (PS3) or 600k units (Wii) which I doubt it did, simply for the fact that retailers are throwing in free games and people still don't buy these

I bought my 360 Friday...so you can chalk one up to MS.

The PS3 sold out...which I think was like 200,000 consoles.
The Wii sold like 650,000 consoles.
So thats a high number to surpase.......My guess is that MS sold 550,000 consoles.

Exactly, he must not understand the idea of preorders or else he just is a fanboy. The 360 sold out launch night, then had 2 shipments of 360s before Christmas, yet they were still sold out due to preorders. I'm not saying it did, because of course Nintendo and Sony would declare it sold a lot more then the 360. (Because they'd count Japan too) But since both sold out, my guess is that of course it sold more, by default. The PS3 and the Wii have been sold out since last weekend here in the US, not sure about Canda though. People were looking for next gen gaming but the 360 was the only console they could buy, I doubt they'll regret it, but it's still the case.
