It makes a noticable difference on the gamecube, even in 480i, so yes, it is worthwhile if you've got a good quality TV to get better colour separation and progressive scan support on the Wii.

Wii IS cheaper than PS3... because you can buy the console + the HD cables for $249+$30? if you are using eBay pricing as a guage frankly you are retarded, and you would have to also use it as PS3 pricing guage, which means on average of $2000 USD for a PS3... now which one is cheaper?

Well, melodrama from those who don't have/like the Wii aside (*sigh*, if you would actually play a Wii, rather than spouting the same repetitive rhetoric, I think you'd find the graphics quite impressive), the Component cables make a huge difference, if you have even just a standard LCD tv like myself...

I'm eagerly awaiting the cables myself, but I'm certainly not going to pay those e-bay prices(!) There'll aways be gougers taking advantage of anyone who wants something early... It actually looks very impressive on my LCD tv even w/out the component cables, so I can't wait to see the picture w/ them, once I can activate progressive scan...

just backorder from nintendo, you may have to wait a few more days but you won't get raped with the price. if you want to test your luck on black friday best buy is receiving the react brand component cables but if your not in line around 6 am your better off with the nintendo option

??? Your comment made no sense...basically they explain it on their site well, they didn't expect the component cables to sell so well, so they quickly ran out of stock. They are hurrying to get some in stock so they can resume selling them...these dumbasses on ebay just aren't patient enough (as the official Nintendo store will have them again on the 28th).

Component cables are important to have for the Wii if you are using a high quality display, such as a LCD. Composite video is actually very poor quality. However CRT type displays hide it much better than LCDs. Now while you don't NEED component video, if you have a better display you should seriously upgrade to S-Video or Component video. The video signal will be much more crisp with these than Composite.

I'm sure 3rd partys will start making cables now that the pinout is publically available information. You could actually probably hack a regular AV cable for Wii and add the nessisary Component connections.
