I know that a lot of places got their Wii early. Has anyone tried SD-Load or other AR hacks to get backup Gamecube games running?

I don't think ARs will work on Wii. Old ARs didn't work on dol-101 Gamecubes...
So I could be wrong... Would be cool if someone could try it.

Damn you beat me to it,I have been thinking about this very idea for months..
Even though if it does not thats ok cause I got me a viper extreme modded gamecube.
Anyways soon as I get my Wii I will try some of my backups.
My guess is though since there is dvd playback but its software locked it should read and boot backups.

in my jackassed opionion dout it ,best bet for homebrew ide say if we are lucky exploiting its abilty to boot from flash media
if we are very very lucky and if it was the case we probley would know bout it by now no exploit nessasery and its can boot stuff off the card without it being signed or encrypted for you pirates out there I think its going to be a wile the current gamecube drive hacks could not possibly work sence the wii uses a differint disk drive but perhaps someone can work out a new one

I'm really hoping that theres some sort of quick hack to be able to play my GC isos right away, because I would love to be able to actually play them in 480p (I never was able to get the way too expensive GC component cables.)

Will GC's AR work at all on Wii?
On GC you load the AR and are then able to swap discs without any hardware hacking. Will the Wii retain this function? If it does then I think that there will be a good chance that we could see backup GC games running from on the Wii.

some of your seem to think your just going to be able to run burnt DVDs using AR but you seem to be forgetting that every gamecube disk drive revision had to have a different code to force it into debug mode and the wii's drive will be quite different and that trick probably would not work at all since the security is probably quite different also most likely in the core of the system instead of just in the drivem so that has no chance just it is potentualy possible that DOL's might but I dout it very much

Now I understand... you're right... It has now been proven by 'peppers' that we will never play backup games on the Wii... This sucks. =(

Well, looks like Nintendo stopped some AR hacks and the Freeloader as well on the Wii. I have access to a retail Wii here at work. When we inserted the Freeloader disc, the Wii stated that it was unable to read the disc. Also, we tried out the retail Naruto 4 JAP on a US Wii and the message was the same.
At this point, unless someone can hack the Wii or Datel can make a Freeloader for the Wii, you have to keep your GCNs handy.

using AR, I got it to load GCOS, but when I tried to tell it to run a backup, it spit me right back to the Wii main menu

Two videos taken. Posting shortly. Don't expect great quality or 100% proof, but hey, it worked for me :)

Couldn't you make one where we see the AR booting out of the Wii OS and then booting GCOS, please?

I'd love to.
But my camera only lets me record for 30 seconds.
Second video will show disk swapping, and being kicked back out to the Wii main menu:

hi,friend:
I hate that movie as flash(can't download and look not good).
Can you tell me the WII can use the ar disc or not exactly?!
if yes,can you tell me you ar versition? such as ver 1.11 or 1.14 or something else.
and can you use the ar disc and sd adapter ,then can load the sdloader and use the dol file such as gcos.dol or something.....
