I tried setting my Xbox to 1080p but it splits the screen in two. I have a Samsung HD TV. Using a component cable, is 1080p only for HDMI ???
You have to use the VGA cable to use 1080p output (there is no HDMI Cable on 360).
Or else try this :
VGA to DVI Converter : the price is cheap
DVI to HDMI Converter : the price is cheap
Dunno if it work though but i think yes. But use if it possible the VGA Cable directly.

Thanks for the quick reply. Would I actually see any difference from 1080i and 1080p ??
Well i don't know... but i'm sure progressive signal is better than interlaced signal ! So yes...

Wrong. 1080p works fine with component cable. Its only the HD-DVD's that will not work with 1080p thru component

It depends on your tv, i heard that some samsung and other tv's can do 1080p but the vga does not do it yet, they made a mistake and mircosoft are fixing it soon.

I have had a quick look at that TV and I can't find any evidence that it does 1080p, although it is a 1920x1080 panel.
The manual says it accepts 1080i, 720p via HDMI and probably component aswell, 576i/p and 480i/p, also 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1280x1024 via VGA.

U can select 1080p with componet, i got a samsung hdtv and it does not allow it, just a black screen and that is it, have to use 1080i instead.

1920x1080=cloned HD
PS3=HDMI/True-HD 1080p
PS3 = True-**** hmm no True HD.
Come on, i prefer a good framerate and graphic at a good resolution for a game than a true hd with various framerate and less detail (see RR7 vs RR6).
Btw, RR6 graphic are **** so if PS3 can't even handle that for new programmer... no comment
