View Full Version : Virtua Tennis 3 to Utilize PS3 Tilt Function
Sega has confirmed that gamers will be able to utilize the PS3's tilt functions on Virtua Tennis 3. There is the option to move the player around the court with the tilt sensation or use the controller as a racket via such movements as quickly moving up the unit to perform a lob shot.

Poor Sega, they were probably forced to do that by Sony... Now let's see how many people will love their Sony game even though it's only gestures and not 1:1 movements when everybody bashed Red Steel's sword fighting for the same reason...
The game will be good to play as was intended because Sega rocks, but the tilt they were forced to use so that Sony can show off their 1337 controller will be crap...
Hope Sega make a tennis game for the Wii too ;)

You don't know that until you play it. You are talking crap here.

Don't know which part exactly?

But even without having a picture it's pretty safe to assume that anyway as it's not an all new title, it's Virtua Tennis, created with buttons in mind as usual, except with the last minute addition of tilt triggering for the same results you'd get from button presses...
Not to mention that if it could recognise all your swings it would be a major selling point they would advertise A LOT rather than simply announce that you can do this or that motion to trigger this or that swing.

Sega better make this play better then it sounds, if your using the pad like a raquet then how do you move the player? ala Wii sports?, i hope not.
Moving your player via tilting the pad sounds like a bad idea to me too.

That's the thing, you don't use it like a racket, you hold it same way as always, moving the character with the stick, and moving the whole pad to trigger the racket swings... Awkward, but thankfully optional (and pointless).

It clearly shows you don't actually do a swinging motion and yet it triggers game swings so, yeah...

No thanks, i will just stick with the analog stick. I will use those "tilt" functions on the Wii.

There is simple no logic into putting tilt function on this tennis game..maybe jsut to use as a "ball balanced on the racket" feature.. other than that..is jsut a bit maybe a lot ridiculous..is like to drive a car using a duck inside a cup of water ..whatever the duck goes the car mimics..

teh most utterly pointless, useless feature ever...6directional tilt..hmmmm i can definatly smell shite.

if it does have 6 axis, as the name suggests then it should be capable of more than just tilt. It could add something to some games, but i can hardly see an entire game being built arround its capabilities. Someting like katamari maybe, the japanese will find something great to do with it im sure.
