UPDATED TO FINAL :

My mistake, 300mhz module just dont load on the last release, the psp remain at 222mhz. I removed this 300mhz mod, finnished the uninstalling part and put the sources. Sorry for this...

================================================== ==========================
"Overclocking" final module for Dark Alex Custom Firmware SE-B By Cpasjuste
================================================== ==========================

This appz will flash a module named oc.prx in the 2.71 module directory "flash0:/kn/"
and update the file "pspbtcnf_game.txt" located in "flash0:/kn/" too.

This allow UMD or ISO games to be played at the full PSP speed (333MHZ), while the XMB and 1.50 homebrews
remain at the original speed (222MHZ).

To install the mod : Copy the directory named "oc" located in the RELEASE directory to your games folder
("ms0:/PSP/GAME" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150"), launch the App as usual from the xmb then follow instructions.

To remove the mod : Copy the directory named "oc" located in the RELEASE directory to your games folder
("ms0:/PSP/GAME" or "ms0:/PSP/GAME150"), launch the App as usual from the xmb then follow instructions.
The flash of the psp will be like before you use this mod, so no worry about future dark alex update's.

Thanks to Dark Alex for all his work, to Tyranid for the pspsdk and all the people that love the psp.

Cpasjuste.

Hello there ! I'v made a long break on the psp scene but i'm not dead :)
Its 02h40 here, I'm really tired sorry i past the quick made readme.

Some few precisions :
- XMB will remain at 222Mhz
- Compatible with SE-B and SE-B' (SEB2)
- All is automatic, no possibility to switch games back to 222mhz (exept if you remove seb with the recovery).
- WIFI IS BROKEN FOR NOW, NO ONLINE PLAY.

Hehe i forget to put the link ...

Dark Alex Custom Firmware SE B Overclocking Module 01

Dark Alex SEB firmware was what we were all waiting for.
Many thanks to him for his hard work.

I wanted to play my games at 333Mhz, i'm sure there will be an option in the future but it's always fun to make it's own work.
So here it is, a module is flashed to flash0 (oc.prx) and a "pspbtcnf_game.txt" file is updated to take care of this.
Only UMD or ISO games should use this module since its launched with the 2.71 firmwares files,
homebrews that use 1.50 modules should not use it. (Need confirmation by Dark Alex?)

Anyway its really working, i'v compiled the module to run games at 33Mhz and its was damn slow ...
I will also try to add cpu speed switching in the future.

- To install copy the content of the PSP_ROOT folder to your memory stick then launch as usual.

- ONLY TESTED WITH Dark Alex Custom Firmware SE-B.

- TWO FILES ARE COPIED TO THE FLASH USE AT YOUR OWN RISK.

- ONLY USE RELIABLE SOURCES FOR DOWNLOAD (maxconsole.net, pspupdates.com etc).

Many thanks to dark alex, Tyranid etc ...

I'll try it right now. Is it automatic or can I set it? And BTW...does it run in the XMB?

Cpasjuste

Hi, its automatic, we cant change the speed for now, all game will be run at 333mhz by default.
It dont affect XMB since the module is only launched with games.

Do you have the Undiluted Platinum modchip ?
Its strange because these problem seems to be with flash1 and nothing is write to it. Anyway its not cool i hope to be able to find your problem.
Please if you can post more infos, like your psp model, wich firmware you are using (SE-B?) etc.

i tested, everything went fine, no blue screen or crash or brick :D but i dont see the difference..i tried with medal of honor heros, wich takes time to load at the begining (just before it ask you about the autosave enabled message and after too) but even with 333mhz it takes time..maybe its normal for this game i dunno :D:P

Interesting application! Tell me, what would be some good advantages of overclocking your psp that you can think of? Might get me to fix my psp quicker;) .
Thx ahead of time for whoever replies.

Fixed, use 2.71 homebrew mode. Not 1.5

EDIT: Just blue screened again.. BTW the game is Need for Speed Carbon

On the psp not all the games are running smooth, when in 333 all is smooth :)

No WIFI is BROKEN for now with the mod, you must make a choice or wait till i found a solution.

Why not just a 300mhz one? Then wifi would still work, and it's almost as fast(no noticible difference really)

EDIT: how is this possible? I thought Dark_Alex couldn't get prx's to load after the init.prx or some such

I thought it wasn't because that's what Dark_Alex said, but I suppose this proves it is...... :D *hopes cwcheat will work soon (change cpu speed in game, battery percentage, and cheats)

Finally, a 2.71 SE-B Compatible Overclocker !! :)

Couple of quick questions though since I'm new to this:

1) Are there any games which wouldn't be compatible in 333mhz mode?
2) What are any other advantages / disadvantages?

it def would kick ass as either a config mode option or 300mhz like previous poster said.. loss of wifi is too great for me to use this atm

It doesn't work right for me either. Crashes when it accesses the MS to load a game save, home works but there is no text onscreen when pressing it. Could very likely be why Epsilon had no overclocking options. I used the reflash option to put the normal psp gameboot config back, will wait to see what Dark_Alex comes up with instead - not like I'm in any hurry to have my battery die faster anyway, especially since this PSP seems to act retarded (cant seem to decide if the battery is charged or not in SE) when the power is plugged in and playing a game..

Nice work though Cpasjuste, finding out non-crypted modules are indeed run-able from flash ;)

Yes, the file pspbtcnf_game.txt has a line in it that say to load the prx oc.prx which is responsible for the overclocking just remove this and flash the changed version of pspbtcnf_game.txt with the recovery menu and your done.

10-29-2006, 07:06 AM
I think that this is great and all but I don't think it's worth the loss of wifi and the drop in battery life seeing as how not a lot of games that I play need this. Don't get me wrong some of them of course need the overclocking, so wouldn't it be more practical to code a small app for now that just changes the clock speed and then goes back to XMB with clock speed intact? That is, if that's even possible... Just an idea! :D

Dan4o2
10-29-2006, 08:43 AM
There is another way to uninstall it : flash the original pspbtcnf_game.txt using the recovery menu. (if you don't have it, take Cpasjuste's one and remove the line which deals with oc.prx). oc.prx will still be on the flash.

I've also flashed a new pspbtcnf.txt and now my homebrew list displays faster.
But the browser was becoming useless (no wifi), so I reflashed the original.

I think that if you can make a prx that can work in XMB and in game, you can also make a prx that loads prx from the MS (like a custom firmware for 1.50).
(I didn't get working the SVC module with a link started by "ms0:/" : when I did so, my PSP was like a brick...)

is it easy to configure it? a simple way to swith from 222 to 300 to 333?

But be carefull when using flashing tool, do it as less as possible. It should be safe but there is always a risk to brick the psp.

can u add an option to remove it in next version?
to restore se-b flash as original (i dont want to risk bricking my psp with future update of 2.71se).

(apparement avec le firmware se il reste plus bcp de place dans la nand ou je me trompe?)

Hum i dont think there is an app that can do this because it's really dangerous to have write access to it.
I will add this function to the next version if i found some time to work on it :p

If its really a problem for you, you can downgrade the psp with dark alex tool's then reinstall SE-B.

Any chance you could support flashing of other prx's ?

Still hoping for a solution to load Wedge's VSH DLX at boot :D

/Edit

PS: must the prx's be in nand in order to run, or could they be started from ms ?

I did not try module 01 but, module 02 does not work for me either at 300 or 333 mhz. I did not try 111.

The psp loaods well and operates well in xmb. But gives black screen whent trying to load .cso or UMD (i did not try .iso).

I am using 2.71 SE-B(2) with NO-UMD switched off. HOPE this helps :)

if d_a said that he was wrong.
IIRC the PSP has special patches in the toolchain to load plain prx's from MS, could very well be this is what Dark AleX was refering to (ie: 1.5 PoC prx loading from a cnf file on MS). Also, I wouldn't say your method is perfect, as there are a number of people who don't get good results with it... may be better off just to have an app that locks the speed to 300/333 in the XMB so nothing else can change it (so it is assured to fully exit and return the memory when a game boots), 'till prx loading happens at any rate. Or perhaps that prx loader to get vshextender running...

if d_a said that he was wrong.

I don't remember D_A having said that.

I think people interpret his remark that "dlx load after init.prx" would maybe be implement in some futur version as "dlx load after init is not possible in current release" ...

1-yes
2-no. first of all the dax module is less compatible with prxs accessing umds, second it's made as a plugin for devhook and it's higly dependent to devhook. plus the loading system of 2.71se is different from devhook one so it will surely not work :)
