View Full Version : PSUL can't connect

hello everyone,

I can't connect my PC to my Cube!
when I try to connect the Cube to my PC using PSUL
(I tried both, 1.0 and 1.1), nothing happens.
I did exactly what they wrote in Paradox' manual
step-by-step.
PSUL does not react, just:

"Starting Server on ...........
Waiting for connection......."

I configured both, my TCP/IP settings in Win98 and
the Network-Settings of PSO correctly (as written in the Paradox "manual")

For Information;
I use a PAL Gamecube with PAL BBA, the PAL Version of PSO, a correct CAT-5E Crossover Nework Cable (10 metres) and an external USB-Ethernet Card (which I normally use for my ADSL-Internet Connection.
Windows 98 S.E.
So everything should work fine, shouldn't it?

I'm sure the whole connection problem is just because
of wrong settings in my Win98-Network Settings.
Maybe something wrongly checked....??

Can someone help me please?

Thanks a lot,
Cubeman

Are you loading the PARADOX ACLoader 1.2 with a gamecube iso image? And are you selecting Online game, your character in-game?

@Evasion:

I didn't use the PARADOX ACLoader 1.2
with a gamecube iso image yet,
because first I need to get PSUL working, needn't I?

And yes, I selected Online game (I did everything written in the manual).

Do I need to activate DNS in my network settings?
If yes, which configuration?
what else do I have to configure?

thx,
Cubeman

Unless you try the -s option, you have to use a gamecube iso image to make it work.

first of all i want to save the user-info to the memory card.
i use the following command:

psul -s

(this is for the "first connection" only, I don't need AC Loader / Cube ISO for this procedure.
but even the first connection fails, thats the point)

but when my cube tries to connect to my PC,
a couple of seconds later he tells me that he can't connect.
PSO tells me something about DNS connection error...
and PSUL doesn't react either...........)

Which OS do you use?
win98 too?
If there's s.o. using Win98 too,
could you please help me out concerning
network configuration?

thx,
Cubeman

I run Windows XP, but it should work on Windows 98 too. Do you get any error messages in your DOS window when you see the error on your tv?

no,
i don't get any error message in the DOS-Window.

nothing happens further,
the DOS-Window only sais:

"waiting for connection..."

If PSO gives an DNS error, i think you didnt setup the network in PSO.

PSO configuration is correct.
i checked it several times.

when PSO tries to connect to my PC,
it sais "connecting to DNS Server..." ,
and I could see my external ethernet-card-light
blinking (which means that there definitely is
some kind of data transfer between the cube/PC).

my norton firewall is, of course, also disabled.

i think that only persons who also use win98 can help me further...

dammit!!

thx,
Cubeman

it's working now!!

the problem was that i didn't set up an additional TCP/IP protocol for my Ethernet Card.

thanks for all your advices!

I've been pulling my hair out trying to get this to work and I finally did.
We can't help you if you don't at least post your Operating System and what you've already done (steps, more detail the better). I've done this on both a Win2k system and a WinXP system.
I even finally got that GCDiscServer to finally work. The N64 emu is awesome.

@gameur:

which Windows Version do you use?

I use Win98 and did the following:

control panel => network => configuration

now look for "TCP/IP -> Name of the Ethernet Card".

If you don't have such an entry, you have to
click "add..." and choose "protocol" and finally "TCP/IP"
with direct binding to your Ethernet card.
