2.71 Special Edition Revision B' (Update for SE-B)

2.71 SE revision B'

To update, just run the new update from game150 folder, in 2.71 SE-A or 2.71 SE-B

Changes:

- Fixed the problem of crashing if the iso folder didn't exist
- Added experimental no umd mode. By default it is disabled.

New configurations:

- Use NO-UMD. It will enable the NO-UMD mode, whose compatibility is currently unknown, and probably less compatible than UMD mode. This is the main reason to release this quick update, to know more or less the compatibility of this no-umd mode.

- Use isofs driver also in UMD-inserted mode (in advanced). You probably don't have to touch this, it's mainly done for myself. If you do it, you may decrease the compatibility of UMD mode.


Note that if you want to change from NO-UMD mode to UMD mode, you have to do it in recovery.
Because even if you have an umd inserted, but you have the NO-UMD in settings, the CF will use the method of umd emulation of NO-UMD, which differs a lot from the UMD one and may have a very different
compatibility.

yep while NHL 07 works great in "no-umd" mode, Burnout doesnt which works good in "umd" mode.
So seems we gotta switch often in recovery menu or use devhook :)

seeing my last response has magicaly vanished from this post heres a updated one.

The no-UMD works brilliantly with all isos i got on my psp. This update also fixed a issue i was experiencing with my monster hunter Retial umd, due to in Rev A it wouldnt even load. Also its fixed a hell of alot of homebrew issues aswell. Great work :D

I always have a UMD in my UMD slot, so that's not a real problem for me.

Can you tell us how much freespace is there in flash0 ?
Because the SE-B dump seems smaller than the SE-A one, but with SE-B, I can't flash gameboots over 650KB any more (my PSP half-bricked when I updated from A to B with a 682KB gameboot : the systemctrl.prx was semi-written so I had a real use of the recovery menu. And I can't flash that gameboot anymore.)

Will in a future release your systemctrl.prx detect automatically if the homebrew works with 2.71 Kernel and switch automatically to 1.50 Kernel if it doesn't (like with your PC programm) ? Because homebrews which work with both Kernel work better (or never crash) on 2.71 (more stable). And I don't like moving the homebrew folder from GAME to GAME150 (or GAME271 to GAME) when it works only with 1.50 Kernel. (takes time and requires space).
Anyway, you're not a slave, so do what you want and what you think is the fastest method for you !

Family Guy crashed my PSP, hard boot required. I'm gonna try it again.

Yeah, just tried Family Guy again and it froze. I disabled the No UMD mode and it works fine.

with a umd in the tray it works great but the umd is used at the start.

Try actually reading a readme.. You need to boot into recovery mode and change the setting..

Completely turn off your PSP (keep the switch up for 3+ seconds) and start it up again, keeping R pressed.. You now get in the Recovery menu..

Go to Configuration --> Use NO-UMD and set it to enabled..

Can you plz tell me what version of Tales of Eternia u have? and what size is it plz? coz Tales of Eternia (English Version) and Legend of Heroes doesn't work for me in 2.71SE-B or B'? i get a "the game could not be started (80020148)" error..
i tried with both UMD or no-UMD options.. the 2 games are untouched isos..
they work great in devhook 2.71..

thanks for the reply dipswitch i'm just waiting for my battery to charge past 75% so i have not had a chance to try.that would be the topping on the cake for me is when we can use cwcheat, screenshot, and clock to 333mhz for those slow running games without going through devhook to do it ( i'm not putting devhook down before someone starts saying i hate booster) these two guys have together kept the psp scene alive , plus the others with there special mods (Chunglam and wedge to say a few).everyone on the forum have a happy gaming weekend cos i'm sure gonna......sudeki300

hey guys, i am ahving toruble updating from se-a to se-b, plz tell me wot am i doing wrong, firstly i have 2.71 se-A, i donwloaded the se-b update rar file, extracted it, and put that folder into psp/game/game150. ok, my psp could not access dat file, so i moved that folder from game150, into psp/game folder, the psp found da file, i entered it, pressed x to update, and it said i must be in 1.50 kernel mode, how do i update from se-ato se0b, plz help as i ahve beeen waiting 5 hours already for a reply, and no one has said anything thanks in advanced!!!!

I think you need to enable 1.5 kernel mode on recovery mode then put that 2.71 se-b' update file into GAME150. Just give it a try.

To update, just run the new update from game150 folder, in 2.71 SE-A or 2.71 SE-B

and modify : pspbtcnf.txt, pspbtcnf_game.txt, pspbtcnf_game.txt, pspbtcnf_updater.txt in kn folder and pspbtcnf_game.txt, pspbtcnf_updater.txt in kd folder for active this prx ?

You must copy the sebupdate to GAME150 folder not in GAME folder.

in x:\PSP\GAME150 not on x:\PSP\GAME\GAME150

Your NFS Carbon it's in ISO or CSO format ?

Because i play with NFS Carbon (cso 482mo) and it freez the first play but now it's good no freez .
