Is 512mb the actual size, or is it smaller?? for example an ipod 30gb, doesn't have 30gb but roughly 28gb, so i was thinking can you actually hold 4 x 128mb games (e.g resident evil)

its a little smaller because of the OS files that are in there.
and i cant tell how much of it is the os files and how much due to bits to bytes conversion

there are 8 bits in 1 byte. shouldnt be hard to figure out.

So is resident evil 512 mb?
Megabit is not the same as MegaByte.
Resident Evil is a 128MB game, 1Gb(it).
A 4Gb cart is 512MegaBytes.
One MegaByte = 1024 bytes but the retarded companies decided that 1MB = 1000 bytes, so that they can market easily and save cash. That is why your 512MB devices are actually less than 512MB.

So then if each 1024b is actually 1000b then you are loosing 24b.
Now say on a 512MB / 4Gb it would be 24b x 4 = 96b lost.
Is this the same when you get a 500GB HDD and there is only 400GB actual space?
