The marketing folk at Sony seem to be losing their minds, check out the latest ad which shows a guy sniffing a pink pair of panties with other garments making up the Playstation controller button shapes. This looks super freaky, would this really make a girl pick up the soon to be released pink revision of the PS2?

Sony’s just had one brilliant advertisement following another these days. Well, at least this time it’s not laden with racist undertones. Their latest strategy? Advertising that the soon-to-be-made-obsolete pink PS2 is the gaming system of choice for pervs. It took me a while to even figure out that this was a PS2 ad - note the square - triangle - circle - cross shapes of the undergarments and it becomes more clear.

Is it just me, or is this advertisement doomed to scare away the pink PS2 target market of girl gamers? Or is the thought of some guy sniffing panties just the kind of thing to convince you to get that PS2 you’ve been lusting after?

They must want to be controversial. But I think theyre taking the "all publicity is good publicity" theory a bit too far.

Im not sure how a guy, somehow getting high sniffing underwear is going to appeal to female gamers. Maybe im just out of touch with the youth of today.

A whole lot of people at Sony NEED to be fired and replaced with fresh minds.

I mean isn't the Pink PSP more for the ladies? How is this going to help?
"Hey ladies! Buy a Pink PSP and get stalked by a dirty japanese perv!
Imagine the fantasy as he breaks into your home, sniffs your dainties and soils
your bedsheets......" ok I'm gonna stop.

Do they ever get out at Sony anymore or do they just sit around all day watching Hentai and telling "round eye" jokes.

I believe this is all just a marketing strategy. Controversy raises awareness and boost sales. I personally feel the latest things we seen from Sony are definitely strange but all-in-all their plan is working. Word of the bizarre ads are spreading and doing so fast.

Bizarre ads might impress teenagers and young adults but parents won't be amused. Sony already pissed off christians with their ad once to their luck it was in spain not in the US or else christian fundamentalists would steamroll them long ago.

Who cares 'bout most relious folks? They consider videogames as evil anyway ;)

btw: the add reminds me of a level 'A new life' in the recent Hitman game :D
