Here is a quick tutorial on replacing the Phoenix logo.

ftp to your xbox, find phoenix.raw
transfer the file over to your pc
open the file with photoshop or other editor
input these setting for the file

Dimensions

width: 640
Height: 480

Channels

Count: 3
check on Interleaved
Depth: 8 bits

Header
Size 0 bytes

Then you can create your own opening logo / message.

Save as phoenix.raw

upload the file to your xbox and over write the existing file.

Nice post, I'm probably going to modify this to include the maxconsole logo :-)

are those dimensions the same for pal and ntsc?

Yes, its dependant on the coding of the app as well as the screen resolution specs. As the loader isnt available in PAL / NTSC (it doesnt need to be). Experiment with it and see is the best bet.

Generally speaking it should be fine to ahear to those specs which were posted.

Isn't it possible to skip the logo, or is the logo displayed during loading time?

yea i deleted it but loading time remained the same so i just put a custom made one in
it now says "Hajaz' hax0red xbox" along with some pic i got from the net... :D
As soon as people start releasing proper ones ill replace it again tho
Offcource for all we know it might be possible to reduce the loading time if someone was brave enough to tinker with the code

MODS: maybe this thread should be moved now that theres a phoenix loader discussion area ?

Good job.

But, i've found it's much easier to use ImageMagick to convert the .raw to a useable format, edit, and then convert back.

Or just use ImageMagick to convert your imge to .raw!

The delayloop is trivial to remove... as well is removing the intro/splas alltogether. but i leave that as an exercise for the reader. (mostly because i spent a DAMNED lot of effort on that kickass, realtime raytracing effect, and noone seems to be giving it the respect it deserves!)

Also, as a CHALLANGE to the reader... 70 points to the first person who figures out, and explains back to the scene here on maxconsole, how to change the image/logo that's used in the intro, and 200 points to the first person to explain how the intro works, fully, including how to change the lighting, occlusion parameters, etc.

Maybe I'll start keeping track of points, and maybe give a prize at some point? who knows!

All in good, clean, legal fun.

Might as well just give the 200 points to me...

Step 1. Get Phoenix.raw

Step 2. Steal dirty underwear.

Step 3. Room clean!!!!!

That was one hell of a start up screen... I for one would like to see it boot every time, perhaps with random effects? Thanks for a kick booty program!

Well, then hack it up!
The source is all right there, and most of it's pretty obvious, if you actually take the time to look. :-)

uh... he eh... yeah, I was pretty much joking around on that one, but I'll see if there's anything my High school Pascal class can do for the scene... dur:D

Some of the best intro code I've ever seen was written in pascal.....
