A friend of mine who works at EB Games is going to check out which drives are in the 360's before I buy them (I am buying a 360 used). However I can't figure out if the Sammy, Philips, Hitatchi, or whatever are better than others. Which one should I tell him to hold for me?
Thanks guys. I read the stickied thread but nothing seemed clear cut.

samsung.cos you got the most uptodate flash's/stealth
and you dont need to buy a specific dl burner to burn your backups.also you can use most media and they boot most of the time.
but i got hitachi,so i had to get a new burner but,it was easy to flash.
the samsung is three steps,extract/modify/flash.
the hitachi a simple flash.
so you saw the pics?look at the samsung drive and memories it!

Thanks man! I hope I get a Samsung!!
I have an NEC 3520 DVD burner. Will that work with Hitachi?
Is there a way to tell which you will get outside the box? Is there a better chance to get one if you buy a Core or Premium or something?

i have a nec 3540 and benq ext. both are DL drives
should i expect any problems with any x360 drives?
after my nightmare experience... many trys... many (12) Verbatin DVD's DL wasted...
I recomend the Pioneer 111D - I used 4 different burnes! (LG..., Nec 3250, Pionner 109 and finally the Pioneer 111D) and just got good results (sucessful results) with the Pioneer 111D - My X360 drive is a Hitachi 47DJ

id agree w/ buying the Pioneer 111d Drive. Not only did i get mine for $40 shipped, I have burnt about 10 backup with a 100% success rate. A very wise investment.

Is any hacked firmware on the Pioneer necessary? I wonder why one burner would work and another would not.
