x1 works not x3, why?

hey guys ive just flashed my second samsung drive and well the first one was with the first xtreme v and now its been a few months and ive dld the xtreme 3version and well ive done all as supposed saved original one with the key copied to the xtreme3 file and flashed it but nothing works, it cant read any media.... so i tried to flash with the old xtreme1 v and well it works with that....


whats wrong?

ive tried both with the hex method and also with kd to extract the key

you obviously had had the right mtkflash/mtkflash.typ/xtreme30.bin and kdx42 v1.3.on the floppy.

at a guess i reckon you flashed the unmodified xtreme30.bin to the drive.

used the command:
mtkflash r /m orig.bin to extract.

used command:
kdx42 orig.bin xtreme30.bin(you got to use kdx42 v1.3)

used command:
mtkflash w /m xtreme30.bin

and thats that.dont try renaming stuff cos your just gonna confuse yourself.it works like a charm as long as you dont complicate stuff and use the right files.

well i used the mtkflash that i used for the first xtreme fw so im not sure if there has been a new one released.

so if you know what fw i need for the xtreme3 please point me to the right direction :)

and also i used the GUI version of kd and its v1.5

i used otherwise the commands you type, r/m for reading the fw and then copy the hex strings 400-200 an pasted them in the xtreme3.bin file and well i noticed after that it didnt work that when i opened the modified xtreme3.bin in kd 1.5 it didnt have the key in it.... so said and done. copied it from original to the moded fw and flashed the drive, still no go :/

so i tried the old xtreme and it worked... so original and xtreme1 work..

let me know exactly what mtkflash/mtkflash.typ i need. thx

so you format a floppy,select msdos and create.
put this kdx42 in your floppy:

so you want to put the mtkflash you used already,the mtkflash.typ and xtreme30.bin.

so you got mtkflash/mtkflash.typ/kdx42/xtreme30.bin all on one floppy.set the floppy as first boot device.

type command:
mtkflash r /m orig.bin(leave space after r)

choose where the samsung drive is,primary master 1,or sata primary master 3.then it extracts the orig.bin.it will be saved on the floppy.

back up the orig.bin somewhere.
then type:
kdx42 orig.bin xtreme30.bin

and it will copy the key from the orig.bin to the xtreme30.bin.and it will tell you that you can now flash the drive with the xtreme.bin.

then type:
mtkflash w /m xtreme30.bin(leave space after w)

choose once again from the selection same as when you did the extraction of the orig.bin.

it flash's four banks,they should say okay if not do the reflash until they do.and when it says you can now reboot the pc.turn off and its done.

you was using the wrong kdx,the one i provided is the correct one.it will sort it no probs.

everything will work perfectly on every step.

ok now it works but not allways, i flashed and tested homebrew and original stuff and it worked.... i closed the case and started out with original stuff and it didnt worked did a reboot 3 times didnt help so i tried a backupo on ricoh 8x worked like a charm... anyways i removed the eth cable and it worked perfectly.... il try the eject boot method instead later....


just wanted to thank you and the forum + if you got any tips on how to boot 100% safe its appreciated ;)

hi bro first off kdx 1.5 is buggy doesnt always work right if i were u i would use auto flasher i assume u have a samsung lol auto flasher is easy as pie and fast message me if u need more nfo hope this helps o and atuo flasher doesnt use kdx it uses the good editor lol anyway message me

i provided the link for v1.3 not v1.5.i know already about v1.5,all people have to do is read the readme files that come with the firmware and apps to find out what does and dosnt work.

i can confirm that kdx42 v1.3 works with xtreme firmware on floppy.for copying the key from the orig.bin to the xtreme.bin(depends which version you use)

a simple case of one mans cup of tea is another mans cup of coffee.

me for instance some will say i'm stuck in the ice age of hacking cos i still use and swear down by the xtreme20 firmware.i dont like the autoflashers and i dont see the need to upgrade the firmware when all my backups are working brill!and i swear down by the kit as well.i got hitachi and did sammy no probs at all.but some will say the old xtreme firmware is crap and that the kit is crap as well.

basicly i would not provide a link to something that wasnt working.

ive got it working but im not happy....

My samsung machine has now xtreme3 and ive tried 3medias and bought games, richo works great, datawrite titaniun 2,4x works sometime and rivision simply doesnt work at all, ive used a nec 4571a and a pio 110D. Bought games work 80% of the time.

Anyway im @ my friends house now and she has a core modell with a samsung and ive flashed it with the first xtreme1 and well her plays all medias, all of the above. So my question is, is my reader worse or what? or have i flashed it simply to many times now, ive maybe flashed mine 5times and im affraid its getting worse now...

any other firmware i can try that might help me reading media?

ok when i used the pc connection it felt more like it was in all the way, with the cable in the 360 its more lose, so that might be it.... but wouldnt the 360 say anything? the lights? you know the ring....

Ash, i manage to load dead rising but just when im about to start the game you know after when you choose where do save the savegames it simply says the disc is unreadble/dirty :/ has that happened to you?

hmm i just realized that i cant play dead rising with a hdd connected... when i remove it i can play and with it on it doesnt work.... i also opened it and checked the cables and well it wasnt loose, so anyway i did a flash to the 3.2fw and i must say the dvd drive sounds alot more, it clicks and like goes to highest gear just to start read... almost frightening...

hmm, sounds like a idea but im not sure if its worth it, i mean a long sata cable touching the components... arent the 360 having problems enought with heat :D

imo, the sata cable bettwen my computer and 360 fellt alot more loose than the one in the 360....
