Don't think me lazy please! I have been searching for ages and keep finding conflicting information and hoped that one of you DS veterans could help me out. I'm not new to gadgets, PCs (I'm an ICT technician) or console 'adaptation' (search for 900Gb Xbox on google - I built it :) but this DS lark is confusing me.
I have a Max Media Launcher and Supercard MiniSD (and 2Gb card) that I want to use with a DS lite (black). I've got homebrew and ROMs to run. I can select the .gba/ .nds file from the launcher but they will not boot.
Do I need to flash the DS? Will this void warranty (there is no sticker covering the little hole) ? Is it worth flashing?
Any help much app.
Thanks!

FlashME WILL void your warranty.
But the .NDS roms need to be run through the Supercard patcher software FIRST.
Regular homebrew ROMs should run just fine, if they don't then they probably need to be patched with a special SC-only homebrew patcher...search around in here and you'll find it.
Some homebrew ROMs have two versions, a .DS.GBA and a .NDS version.
In that case try renaming the .DS.GBA version to .NDS and running that.
Sometimes it works.
I've NEVER had any issues with running ANY homebrew on my SC mini-SD.

Would you recommend flashing it? Extra functionality?

Flashing voids the warranty and since the new passme's are the same size as ds games and offer sleep mode there is no reason to flash other then to play muti games on other ds's. MML requires a mod to enable sleep mod as its one of the worst passmes but it gets the job done without voiding the warranty. I wouldn't bother flashing as if you don't know what you're doing you could end up with an expensive brick.

I read something about a fade-in backlight and no more nag screen... these not as good as the hardcore fans make out?

I use flashme and it's great no delays, when i boot up my DS my list of games comes up instantly. I would flash it with flashmestealth. When a flashcart is inserted it will bott straight to it but when it isn't the warning screen will come up just like normal and even though it voids your warranty if you use flashme stealth nintendo won't check if you send your DS to be repaired.

flashed with the stealth version eventually after lots of hesitation. Not as complicated as the forums suggest! Have lost the 4 brightness settings but didn't use these anyway and now I can sell the MML :)
What homebrew do you recommend?
Is there an HTML web browser yet?

Search around...there's a version of FlashMe v7 that has all the brightness levels enabled again.

As for homebrew there are some great games and apps like Moonshell, DS Organize, vscumm, and many more. But sorry there is no browser as of yet.
