My friend that has the SuperCard Lite gave me a rundown on its features in a mini like review:

Using a white DSL, FlashMe, and a normal SanDisk microSD: (http://sandisk.com/Products/Item(1841)-SDSDQ-1024-SanDisk_microSD_1GB.aspx)
Same SuperCard SD/miniSD menu.
Same GBA compatibility and slowdown.
Fits flush with the DSL but is not glossy like the G6 Lite.
Stutters badly in the Castlevania test.
Slowdown in Animal Crossing and Tony Hawk.
SuperCard Lite is hard to put in and remove.
Very study plastic with front loading microSD.
Uses the same miniSD/SD SuperCard patcher software.

The moral of this thread is stick with a 80X or higher rated microSD card! With even 60X there WILL be slowdown! Man I really thought the SuperCard team would have come through this time with better GBA, faster DS speed without high speed memory. I'll be sticking with DS Phat, SuperCard miniSD, PassCard3, and ATP ProMax 150X 2GB miniSD! I have no slowdown in Animal Crossing or in Tony Hawk, and my Castlevania test is flawless with perfect video and audio. Buy if you own a DSL and need a flush fitting solution then the SuperCard Lite is the way to go as its a Lite version of the SuperCard miniSD.

Well that's a bummer. I have a supercard mini sd with a Ridata 150x minisd card and get slowdown in the castlevania movie, but I haven't noticed slowdown anywhere else.. hmm

A good indicator of slowdown with flashcarts can be found in Animal Crossing once you press start after the game starts. It might lag a little while displaying each letter on the screen and while the character walks around. Also going in and out of buildings: as soon as you come out of a building be holding a direction and run and you'll notice it pause for a few seconds. Other games include Tony Hawk while the music is playing you'll get stutter, or in some games menus systems. And as always the Castlevania test is always a benchmark. I have to say I was really expecting more from the SuperCard team.

So it should work ok with a 1GB ULTRA II microSD card yeah?

He justed tested it with the SanDisk Ultra II 60X and it still had slowdown. But not nearly as bad as the regular SanDisk 12X microSD he had before. I would suggest buying at least 80X to keep away from slowdown altogether.

That's 66x for read, but my Mini SD in my SC currently isn't high speed at all and all games I play like Mario Kart etc. work fine

I use a SanDisk Ultra II SD card with my Supercard SD and even on that I get a bit of slowdown on Animal Crossing when entering/exiting and occasionally when running around the town, etc.

I could live with the same performance on the SCL, but I think I'll wait until when (if?) a navy blue version comes out.. in the meantime I might wait and see what the M3 micro SD version is like (I read it's due around mid-August) or I might even go for an EWIN2 card for now seeing as it's so cheap

It’s still a 60X card as all SD cards are measured by write speed not read. And I know that with certain games it doesn't show but the slowdown comes when you have a graphics intensive game which reads from the media but can't read from it fast enough due to the poor transfer rate. And as I said above, Animal Crossing is the best game that you can test the speed of your media on as it can have major slowdown with slow cards.

Bleh, I want the gloss look! Would you guys rather have more memory size but more slowdowns or do you guys think that eliminating the slowdown worth more than having a bigger memory size?

FifthE1ement

That all depends as I have a SuperCard miniSD and an ATP ProMax 150X 2GB miniSD and I have no slowdown what-so-ever with my DS Phat. I still woould rather have more size then a little slowdown in 1 or 2 games as long as it didn't detract from the game. If G6 came out with a G6 Lite 1GB I would be all over it but 512MB is just not enough as I need 1 or 2GB min.

Just an update:

So far a new patcher has been released for the SuperCard Lite which has improved slowdown in DS games! Meaning 60X microSD cards should be good enough for lag free playing! Hopefully there is more room for improvment as the release date for the SC Lite approaches!

Wasn't there a video posted of the supercard lite playing the castlevania intro at full speed?
And what about the fast ram?
Did I imagine all this or is there 2 versions of supercard lite?

Hey.. I just realised that the supercard lite has it's own software.. This means that you can't run the old save files u played with your supercard mini?

And what's the moomshell patch for? You mean you can't run moonshell on the supercard lite? OMG.. if i had known that it's so troublesome.. Then I wouldnt have bought the supercard lite.. Hope people can provide answers.. My dslite is under repair so I can't test it out myself..

is it okie if I patch the rom file once more and then combine it with the old save file and can it work? I think everyone would be trying it todae right? Yup.. Pls help me thanx..

Dude, calm down.

Yes, you can use your old saves on the SC Lite as all .sav files work between flashcarts.

And yes there is a new patch on SC website for moonshell so it indeed works as well.

You can't use your old SuperCard miniSD/SD roms on the new Lite as they need to be re-patched. You'll need clean roms then patch them with the new Lite software.

As for moonshell there is a patch for it on the SuperCard website that allows it to work with the Lite.

why? do you delete roms once you put them on your Supercard?

It should. But I can't say for sure. I don't see why it shouldn't though.

and you can use the saves from other supercards, it's just the roms that have to be patched differently.

I thought fifthelement meant that we are able to use the old savegames from our sd cards? We just need to download the clean roms and patch again.. Then replace the save file with the one we already have..

correct, the save files stay the same. Only the rom is patched in a different way.

i heard homebrews are not supported by supercard lite.. is it true? if its really true then thats a real minus point.. I like to use the beup on my dslite..

homebrew works you have to patch it with the moonshell patcher from the Supercard site.

FifthE1ement
07-30-2006, 09:23 PM
Yes, saves can be used with any flashcart as long as they are in the .sav format.

And the moonshell patcher is know as the homebrew patcher for each line of SC. Just rename it as homebrew patcher and you're set. All homebrew works on the SC Lite.

oh oh thats good.. so we just need to patch the .nds file of each homebrew rite? that's great.. I can use the beup homebrew now.. just patch and im ready to use it..

but why did they name it the moonshell patcher instead of homebrew patcher?

I cannot patch Beup! It gave me an error called "not find SC code" and i could not patch it at all.. How?

Where are you getting the patcher? Do you have a SC miniSD/SD or Lite? Are you dragging and dropping the files?

You have to patch the Supercard file. The one named beup-rein.nds
